This was my Mom's daily driver in 1960. Here memory of it was that it was a Ferrari drive train but the coach was made by another Italian designer. It was silver with a black interior. V12 with a 4 speed.

It was a 2 seater with a tray in the back.

Having no air conditioner was a deal breaker for her here in Central Florida, and after a year she gave it up.

Any idea what model this car was?

Pretty rare model, only 40 cars (high roof, no vent window) built and less than 20 sold in US.

I think i know what that is!! :) Any idea of the VIN?

    Ellena VIN # 0??? It is either a 57 or 58 build.

I keep a record of what is where -

They made 49 high roof ellena's - 25 known to exist

Maybe we can piece the history together if we get a VIN

Mine - 0855GT was an early March 58 completion car.

So far from what I’ve read…..

A silver and black 57 or 58 build 250 Ellena. Possibly a US delivery car…

If you can provide a dealer name or the VIN number…I’m sure Mr. Massini has the records for your car, and or could deduce what car it might be.

Often times Marcel gives out his basic information on some cars freely as he is a class act, and a really helpful guy to the “Ferrari community and collector community”!

    The correct number is 40.

Plus the prototype - a converted low roof Boano that does not exist any more.

Thank you - correct 39 hi roof ellena's produced, there are 10 before the hi roof style that was built by Ellena Factory that were actually Boano style, low roof, vent window etc. Yes there is that one that is non existent - do u recall that vin - i think #0699?

    I stay with 40: 0711GT-0727GT-0739GT-0741GT-0743GT-0745GT-0755GT-0757GT-0761GT-0765GT-0785GT-0803GT-0807GT-0815GT-0817GT-0819GT-0821GT-0823GT-0825GT-0827GT-0831GT-0833GT-0835GT-0837GT-0839GT-0847GT-0855GT-0857GT-0859GT-0861GT-0863GT-0865GT-0867GT-0869GT-0871GT-0875GT-0877GT-0883GT-0885GT-0887GT

All earlier cars have been confirmed as low roofs including 0699GT. I have no opinion on the name change, have never found any source material on the subject but suspect it may have been done to promote the new model with more headroom. Neither do I have any solid info on the mix-up of numbers 0755GT/0837GT, but have no reason to doubt that one of them did not exist.

Would like to find photos of two early cars (0711GT-0727GT) to be sure they both existed. For many years I thought that the first prototype would have been an old frame renumbered to use one of these numbers, but that seems not to be the case. It is possible, of course, that it temporarily used identity of 0727GT which would explain why there seems to be no trace of that car anywhere.

Here's 0711 GT, taken by me 33 years ago in 1989 in Switzerland (it had come from France).
Sold soon thereafter and still with same owner since about 30 years.

Interesting detail on 0711GT is the trunk/boot handle design. I have seen this before, somewhere along the way they changed the design to this
