    Hey, Y'all,
Been digging through the window threads to address the perennial 308 window gremlins---Checked fuses, fuse blocks, relays---Next in line is a round multi-pin connector thingy which was referenced as a likely culprit--Corrosion---Except I can't find the bloody thing, and can't find the post that addresses it---Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Cheers,
    Alex

Under the dash behind the steering wheel, there are some connectors. You need to look up under the dash in the drivers footwell. There is an 8 spade connector with a blue/black and a white/black wire going through it.

There's always the potential for corrosion at the contacts that connect the window motor to the switch....that would be found in the door itself.

You might want to switch out (pun intended....) the window switches for new ones. Doing so made a very big difference on my 308 with tired windows. I don't believe it was the contacts with the wires to the switch, I believe it was internal corrosion/wear in the switch itself that was slowing things down. Incidentally, these switches are "Torrix" switches and are also the same switch as in a Range Rover Classic and an Alfa Spider of 80's vintage (so you don't have to pay ferrari prices if you don't want to.....).

When I needed to check my system I would remove the speaker grill and speaker. There you will find the 2 wires that go to the window motor. I would set the window to the middle . Unplug the 2 wires and get a 12V source. Then just touch the +12/-12 wires to test how fast/slow the window is working. This takes the switch and grounds out of the system and verifies if the motor is mucked up with bad grease or if the pullies are stuck. If the window moves in a fair pace up/down then the problem is in the wiring/ground system. Just my 2 cents.

    Alex,
I'm also a newbie and after reading all the threads I jumped in with both hands and pulled both motors out and ,as most all say, the grease had turned to wax and even with the aux. crank they would not move. What I leaned was that if you open the door panel (it's a tight squeeze) take a couple of wire ties and secure each end of the cable to its nearest post and you will be able to withdraw the motor with the cable in place and disasemble the case and clean out the wax. I used a silicone grease with a wide thermal range to replace it. The windows now operate like they should. I'm not saying that your problem is not electrical ( the other post clearly tells you how to check that) but the grease ,if it had never been changed, will be wax! lostbowl
