I just don't know which one I should choose. I thought about a 550 and a 456 but they lack the "wow" effect that I am looking for in a Ferrari. The 512 BB is not very comfortable for me because I am too tall. I also thought about a 250 GT PF but I am a bit scared of the maintenance costs involved in these vintage Ferrari's.
I could also search the market for an 8 cylinder car but I would really prefer a 12 cylinder Ferrari. Those are the purest Ferrari's in my opinion.

    Any idea's?

What about the 512TR or F512M?
Good luck in making the right decision...

Like Alex, I thought about a Testarossa (or 512TR or F512M) as well. Another thought: 365 GTC/4., but maybe that also lacks the wow-factor you were talking about.

About the 550, wouldn't some stiffened suspension, thicker anti-roll bar etc. and a loud exhaust increase that wow-factor to an acceptable level for you?

Too bad you can't really fit in a BB because they're very reasonably priced at the moment.

    Ton,
Why do I see you well in a TR512M?
Sporty, classy and with the wow factor for sure...
    Ciao and see you soon

(Giallo fly) 512TR : beautiful and refined. Great value for money.

F512M : very exclusive, always high priced, try to search one, only 3 in Belgium.... You have to really like it's back though. Special.

456 GT or M GT : cheap. Overstock in M GT's. Automatic maybe something for you? ;) Some good deals to do on the market these days...

550 Maranello : Fitted with Tubi and you don't know what you hear. Full of character and discreet. Popular and timeless.

512 TR is the Ferrari for you Ton. Go for the best!!!

Or what about the 360???? You remember Bart from the meeting earlier this year? Here's his car : http://www.autoscout24.be/nl-be/detail.asp?ts=6570640&id=39226442
Faster than Testa's, easy to drive and reliable. Plenty to choose from on the markets....

    Ohhhh I loooooove the boxer.
But glad you can't fit in it Ton as I would be very jealous otherwise ;)

There are a few cars I am considering at the mo'. Testa's look sooo cheap the price/power/etc is looking very tempting. Of the Testa's I think the TR looks the best, the F512M looks a little too fussy for my taste. But TR's are a bit more than a normal Testa.

365GTC/4's are apparently very complicated mechanically and so an affair with one of these should only be embarked upon if you are really a fan.

550's, again looking good for the money.
    348 spider....not bad either.
355's still a little too pricey, but coming down quite quickly.

My choice....buy a boxer and have your neck shortened.

From pure looks and WOW effect.....I'd choose the classic Boxer as well ...However, I would prefer the design of the 365 over the 512... but as long as it's a boxer....it's as beautiful as a Ferrari gets with twelve cylinders!!!

    Best regards

    Carsten

A 512 TR is definitely on my mind. It has the "wow" effect that I am looking for. The only negative thing about it is the typical late eighties look.
The 512 BB is an all time classic. Personally I find the styling a bit like a blown up 308. But the 12 cylinder mid-engine construction is a part of the Ferrari history.
The 550 with a Tubi is nice but does not have the "wow" effect. It has a bit conservative styling. I also talked to an owner who was complaining that he missed the overall workload and sound of his 328. But that does not mean that it is not a fantastic car.

I just don't know what to decide.

    btw Joren,

That 512BB is very high priced! 125.000 Euro! What are they thinking? And a 512 M is absolutely not my cup of tea. I never liked the looks.

Probably because it's still in factory condition...??? Very strange to see a 512BB from 1985 look brand new... but probably also very risky to buy a high performance car that didn't drive in... almost 20 years!!! We all know that's not good for a car like this... :( Some things should be replaced... I can't understand why no one drove the car in such a long time!!!!

I can almost see you now, standing on top of your car by a lake in Scotland.

From my own experience I can tell you a Testarossa is a complete different car. Compared to a 328 the Testarossa is far more convenient, roomy inside (I'm 1.88 tall), more powerfull, better handling etc etc. The 328 sometimes feels like a kart, the Testarossa as a save mastadont. I think Wolfgang was right in calling it the beast, it truelly is...

    I am still somewhere between a Boxer, 550 M and a 512 TR.

    Why not a 355 ? 355 Spider ? or a 360 M ? 355 Challenge ?
