no problem, the only thing i had to leave my garage for was a smaller pop rivet then the ones i had.

What is there to wonder about? It took you two and a half hours, they said they'd do it in two - sounds very reasonable!

Rats, wish I had seen this sooner! I would have recommended that you go out and purchase 7 new Sylvania 2723 bulbs and change them all out on your third brake light, that way you could save yourself from having to drill those rivets again in the future to get in there to fix a burned out bulb.

Just use regular ones...then use a little Testors gloss black modeling paint to make them black. If they were in a more visible location, then I would get the proper black ones...but they are largely hidden, so a little paint works fine.

If you search the archives, there are posts on sources for black rivets, as they are used on various model Ferraris to hold A-pillar trim, the rear engine lid grills, etc.

Nice pics! So removal of only one fastener is required for access?

That's correct (at least with my car). Remove one fastener, carefully slide the hinged piece open, remove the mesh piece and 3rd brake light, then slide the hinged piece back in place while continuing the job. As long as it's in the "closed" position... there's less chance of bending it.

Just finished installing mine---if anyone needs help let me know while it is fresh in my mind. Was going to post pics, but the tight quarters getting to the nuts won't allow camera space..
