I know people that have State Farm and have had problems getting the repair shop they wanted approved to do the repairs.

(I have State Farm for my home and daily driver, but I don't worry much about repair shops in that area)

For modern classics - and smaller collections - try to speak to TECTUS insurance of Vienna /Austria. They are very knowledgable and have a sufficient insurance model based on art insurance (not so much normal vehicle insurance). Worth giving a look, also overseas.

I have Liberty Mutual for five cars, trailer, four motorcycles, and house. My Huracan is $3500/year to insure. It depends a lot on state.

Agree with trying American Modern or Hagerty Insurance.

I use both. 458 with American Modern, 550 with Hagerty.

I have been insuring antiques for decades, and the best broker out there is Ralleye Insurance out of Chicago. They will shop around for you and get the best rates.

    www.rallyinsurance.com

Heacock has been great for me, and they are also underwritten by American Modern- just with lower rates than Hag, Leland or Grundy

As long as you have a daily driver type car insured with someone else is the catch.
For example, I pay for my 1971 365 GTC4 insured for $425k $1371 per year with driving it no more than 6000k miles per year.

Anyone else notice rates soar lately? Wanted 50k on my 83 and premium is double.

Will just stay at Amica and reduce coverage 9 months of year.

A reminder that no matter what policy you get, max out your UM/UIM coverage.

That's what pays you for bodily injuries if someone else crashes into you. Most drivers only carry state minimums.

I just left Hagerty because the rates were going up a lot. I switched to Assurant. The price was a lot better. They are part of Geico I think. My DD is on Geico.

I have a question for anyone who may be able to answer regarding Insurance in general and american modern insurance.

My father just insured a huracan 2018 via collector policy with american modern a few weeks ago. It's about $2500 a month.

Problem is, I want to drive the car; I'm 22. I looked into general policies (Not collector policy) and the quotes are of course ridiculously high with me on the policy. I can not be added to 99% of collector policies because they require me to be 25 years of age or greater.

I want to know if I will be able to drive this car and be insured for liability and the car itself while not being listed on the policy. As of now, I'm hearing any potential liability would be covered, but its a gray area in the idea that the car may or may not be covered if anything happened to it while I'm driving it by myself, with permission from my father, of course.

    Thank you.

    Stay safe and healthy all

  18. You need to get the insurance binder, the policy, and read it carefully. Very carefully. My guess is they will deny any claim. For $2500 a month, I would think you could find a non collector policy and have coverage.

So a regular policy (progressive, statefarm, geico) without me being on the policy would have me covered fully?

I had a similar experience a few years back, with a brand being black listed with my insurance company at the time.
