Last car was a 575 Maranello...loved the v-12...loved the tourque and power...next went to a 430 spider as I wanted a convertible and wanted the car to keep its value...

Ok...help me out...should I trade in the 430 for a 599 as my dealer just called me with a spot on the 2010 allocation...also if I really want a 599...should I seek one out in the secondary market....

    Thanks in advance...

This is obviously a personal decision, however, I have a 599 and it is my favorite Ferrari to drive, absolutely incredible in every way. If the new one is configured the way you like or if you can build, I would do that. If not, the secondary market is great as well. Good luck on your search, you won't regret the 599, do it.

They are wonderful cars. I like mine more and more as I drive it. Have a 430 spyder as well. They are both fantastic cars but the 599 is a special car.

is the 599 way better than the 575, or moderately better, or barely better?

no comparison, 599 is twice the car

It always boils down to power/comfort vs. handling

599 has made HUGE improvements in the handling department

But due to weight it will never be a 430. And 430 will never come close it the power dept

But I see you added spider as a choice; nothing like a drop top, so that's a tough one

Personally I vote 599. 430s are everywhere. Love the 599s, don't see enough of them

I've never owned a 575, but I have a 430 and the 599 is power on tap in any RPM range. It is absolutely amazing.

Both are very special cars, a drive top down along a scenic road in a 430 spider is a special experience, as in any drive in a 599, the sound and power of the V12 really make for an almost overwhelming experience.

I would go for the 599...

Once you have had 12 cylinders, it is hard to go back to 8. Having said that, both cars are wonderful. If I were 30, I'd do the open top beauty. I am late 40s and have had many drop tops--so I'd go with the 599.

Or, you could keep 12 cylinders and buy a Barchetta or a Superamerica.

(Sorry . . . had to plug my car.)

I just got back from driving the 599HGTE. I own a 575m and recently sold an F430 Spyder. I loved my Spyder but the 12 cylinder cars have my heart. My wife wouldnt let me sell the 575M to get the 599 HGTE so I guess I will have to share my driving time between them both.

Gene- I think I would like your wife.

599 over 430 Spider any day. Cannot beat a V12, especially one with 600+ hp geared like a drag racer.

i have 3 430s in different forms and one 599. Fun to drive ----> 430 all the way. But the power of the 599 is really amazing, scary almost. I would recommend the HGTE package so u wont miss the 430 handling too much if u do get one.
If i only have ur choices, i keep the 430, or get a scuderia.

I currently own an 07 599. I was also given the opportunity earlier today to drive a 16M . The drive was a real eye opener for me since I had been considering making the change to a more track oriented car. Its power and torque compared to my 599 was not even in the same league. Two cars couldn't be more different. In the end it comes down to personal choice. I am a straight edge power freak and there is no substitute to owning a 599. Everything else comes in a poor second. In my biased opinion the 599 is finest car past or present ferrari has ever built.

    More torque - yes
0-100 I doubt you could clock the difference in a straight line

Do not get me wrong I am a 12 cylinder fan - but until that engine gets tuned like the 8 cyl Scud its a too close to close match. My feeling is Ferrari left a lot of HP to play with for future 599 models.

The comparing of Ferrari models is useless. Ferrari makes different models / upgraded later editions to whoo their customers. Not a bad idea for the wealthy / healthy ego I might add.

It depends on what you want it for. If this is a weekend "drive it alone and enjoy" car, I suggest you swap the 430 Spider for a 430 Scuderia. I had a 599 and it IS an incredible car...It is worth the price just for the engine, however after a few months' driving I found myself craving for a lighter, more responsive car I could drive really fast on and off track. I sold the 599 and got the Scuderia and it is the most incredible Ferrari I have owned after my F40.
I suspect it will also keep its value better
