Have been in the market for an F430 for around six months now. I have narrowed it down to three cars, kind of on both sides of the spectrum, however identicle in options.

    Car 1
    2005 F430
    52,000 miles
All matainence completed, documented and updated.
    34% left on clutch
Larger Brembo calipers and a few tasteful mods.
    Clear CarFax and AutoCheck reports
    Price - $85k

    Car 2
    2005 F430
    18,750 miles
New clutch and matainence records. Two keys and tools included
    100% stock
    Clear CarFax and AutoCheck reports
    $100k

    Car 3
    2005 F430
    19,500 miles
Matainence records since current owner has owned.
    100% stock
    Clutch has never been replaced.
CarFax is clean, minus it shows a minor fire to the rear wheel well due to driving with emergency brake engaged
    $85k

Just curious of thoughts on this. Having a difficult time making a decision. If price was not an option, Car 1 seems like the choice, however with $15k off, the other two become contenders

I'd go for Car #2. You don't buy a Ferrari every day (at least, most of us don't) and the high miles on #1 scare me away and the FIRE on #3 DEFINITELY takes it out of consideration for most buyers. That said, get what you want and don't look back.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

It's clear the car fax mishap affects Car 3 by about $15k. Maybe more since it's still for sale. No one wants to see "Fire" on a car fax.

I would buy Car 2. It's not that much more money in the Ferrari world and will be MUCH easier to sell down the road. New clutch is also a big bonus.

Car 1 has a bit more mileage and that alone will thin out buyers after you tack on some more. If it becomes a 70k mile car it might take months to sell. I'm not one to shy away from high mileage cars, but many do.

Clean Carfax, low(er) miles, factory stock seems to be the sweet spot. The extra cost up front for Car 2 might save you thousands in the long run.

In all due respect, I am shocked you’re even contemplating this. Car number two is a no brainer! Sounds great

I also bet you could get them down a little bit on price. I just picked up a 2007, with 18,500 miles, and all stock as well. 85% left on the clutch, and also has carbon ceramic brakes. 106,000

    Best of luck

Keep waiting and get a 2007 and up. I believe that's when they upgraded the pump or maybe it's 2006.

Honestly, those prices seem slightly high from what I see on the market.

I was in a similar predicament about 4 days ago. I left a 07 with 20k miles that is CPO certified with two years warrenty (all records and etc). 92% clutch life and we’ll optioned. 105k at Ferrari of Salt Lake City. I would seriously look at that car, if not, Car #2..

Thank You All for the advice. It seems Car #2 is the clear choice here. I may have an option #4 tomorrow. I will update this thread if I do

Seems quite unanimous decision for car #2. It's the safest bet.

Go for car 4 and offer 90k without delivery. Get your own delivery and save money.

For Option 4, $96k is the absolute best price.

So you guys feel Option 4 is better than Option 2, eventhough Car 4 has 10k more miles

Yes because its not the first model year. More miles more leverage in price! Also, like Eddie, I would offer 90k and see where it goes. Check the clutch life too as it might be 8k of city driving.

Early 2005 cars were using the F1 pump from the 360s which were over heating. If that issue has been resolved Car #2 looks good. First year of any model will have some quirks which need to be ironed out. The 2007 is not as clean as #2. If all is equal I would take the 2007, but I don't think it is :)

As mentioned, $96k was the already negotiated best price though

28k miles is high in the Ferrari world. This is an emotional purchase but try to keep the rational part in there, as well. You'll put some miles on the car and it'll be a pain in the ass, not to mention, a lower price, if you ever sell it with 30k+ miles.

Honestly none of the cars you mentioned seem like deals. Keep looking and wait another month or two. I see cars at the prices you mention or even a bit lower all the time.

Rule of thumb: Buy the best Ferrari you can afford. Seems like #2 in this situation.
