Hello all, as a group you provided nice commentary on a 488 I was strongly considering. That car didn't do as well in PPI as I'd have liked and I decided to pass on it.

Despite starting with interest in a 458 and then climbing up the ladder to 488, I now find myself in the F8 food chain and ended up getting pretty close on a $300k mid spec F8 Tributo from the same dealer. But then I found this one and was offered a very nice (I think) price of high 390s on it.

    https://www.exoticshunter.com/used-vehicle-2022-ferrari-f8-spider-atelier-spec-429k-msrp-atelier-tailor-spec-40k-in-mods-c-892/

It carries an MSRP of $429k, it's a 2022 with 9700 miles, and has some mods that I (personally) really like.

I would be interested in holding this car for approximately 3 years. I was approved for financing.

What do y'all think? This car is to complement my other supercar (McLaren 765LT coupe) but it's a bit more than I had anticipated spending early on. Still, how's the value proposition appear? I would sell it in 3 years with (probably) 18k miles or so on it.

I was going to say stick with the hunt for a good 488 since you seem concerned about resale, but then I saw the pics of ‘your’ F8. Man that is quite something. I am not in the US so can’t comment on the price, but that is quite a special car

I loved my F8. But I wouldn’t spend that much on a grey car.

Well, I put a deposit on it.

I love everything about this car. The spec, the color, the mods… everything. It would be hard to identify anything I’d personally do differently if I was standing in Atelier Ferrari myself (although I’m not sure if I need the “big seats,” we’ll see about that) or making adjustments to exhaust/tune etc. after the fact.

I think it’s a hell of a way to start my first Ferrari ownership experience. I’m quite excited and can’t believe I’m about to own this beautiful machine. I appreciate the input from all of you.

Did you purchase the car? Any updates on how it drives? Can you post some pics in the sun?

I placed a deposit on the car. The seller revealed post-deposit that the car was in the shop to replace the upgraded turbos. “The driver side was showing signs of going so I’m having both replaced,” is what he told me. I don’t think this is necessarily a problem but kind of surprising to be revealed after money exchanged hands. It also puts me in an odd timeline work and other car-wise, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to go down and get it now. Couple of weeks possibly. I’m not good at waiting, so the slow/variable timeline does introduce a small chance of me passing on the opportunity, but probably not.

Seems very odd to me. What exactly does showing "signs" of going mean and the fact they are replacing both "upgraded" turbos could mean a deeper rooted problem. Is there a tune on the car? Did you ask? No matter what they say, I'd take it to a dealer to have it checked for a tune because of the turbo issue. I suspect there might be and that may have caused the turbo issue. Turbo replacement on supposed upgraded turbos at that mileage is not normal.

My feelings on a tune: what... a couple of dudes with laptops, playing around with ignition timing, boost pressure and fuel injector pulse width/timing and other parameters. No thanks. No matter how good tuners say they are, and they all say they're the best. It's not the same thing as the resources and engineering of the factory.

A tuner ruined the cats on my Performante as they were coming apart (light disintegration) from too much fuel. It was engine out and an 80K repair bill when everything was all said and done. Luckily, I didn't have to pay for it because it was a CPO car and somehow Lamborghini missed the tune. They stepped up and took care of everything because it was their mistake.

You mentioned the 488 you were considering didn't pass a PPI. Did you do one on this car? Does this car come with all of the factory parts they took off for the modded ones? Most likely the next buyer would want those. Something to consider if they don't. Sounds like you need to dig a little deeper to me. Good luck.

I appreciate the concern. But, I think this interpretation is a little more dramatic than reality. I've actually worked with this dealer before on a 720S, it was a solid transaction and the car was as advertised. I also looked at a 765LT he had and he noted a tiny crack in the windshield, and that a new windshield was going in before sale. (I bought a different 765LT but still he was upfront about it.) We are on a first-name basis so maybe this transaction is a little more casual than it would be if I was coming in off the street.

I definitely understand concerns over tunes. I go back and forth on this. My 720S was totally stock. My 765LT has a fair number of mods to include a tune to get the car to 820HP (which is a fairly minor/moderate flash for that car). This particular F8 is set up pretty much exactly how I'd do it. Over time I would end up modifying the car. There's just no way to avoid it. I'm one of those people. So the previous owner of this car picked out all the stuff I'd like and paid for it (and that's not reflected in the sales price of course.) But there's a lot to be said for staying stock and enjoying the benefits of CPO. I'd certainly never expect to change someone's mind about how they feel about it because it really comes down to what fits the individual owner best.

I'll get a PPI done on the car. It doesn't come with any factory parts. Like I said earlier, the timing on this has become a little cumbersome as my other car arrives today and my focus is starting to shift back to that, plus I have work commitments over the next few weeks so I just don't know when I'll have time to go pick up the F8 and drive it home. I am considering doing a partial drive, like from Boca to Savannah and then have it shipped from there. Would still be a really fun experience but not so many miles on the car.

It looked better in it's original specification, but I'm biased, since I'm the one who originally specced it.

I liked her older sister so much that I replicated her spec in the F8-

I can answer any questions about speccing the car if you'd like.

    Enjoy her in good health.
