So, I got this watch today, but it didnt come with any paperwork and did not have any designations on it. It appears to be a genuine Ferrari watch. The second hand movement is very smooth as I would imagine it would be. It seems to have all the right markings in all the right spots to be a genuine Ferrari watch.

In the photos you can clearly see the face, and the back, but the side view doesnt clearly show it, but the prancing horse is on the twist knob.

Can someone help me identify it properly?

    Thanks,

    PDG

It does work and I learned today that it is an automatic watch. So, I have to keep it moving to keep it running. I am a bit disappointed that it is a fake - it was a Valentines Present (I have not told my wife it is fake yet). I think it was a bit more than she wanted to pay, but thought getting me a real Ferrari Watch was a cool thing since its something I have wanted for a while. I had just PMed VTC about it a few days ago...

When I got up this morning and figured out it was fake I also noticed it wasnt running. So, I immediately took it to a store to get a battery replaced before my wife found out that it wasnt running. The young lady at the jewelry store took the back off and saw that it was an automatic....then immediately tried to sell me an automatic watch winder....guess I might have to look into that. All my other watches run on battery or are Citizen Eco-Drives that use light.

Lets not use the word fake, as it is not trying to be something it is not, ie: a Cartier, GP, or Panerai Ferrari watch. Instead, I would call this an unlicensed homage :) Oh, and its probably better quality that the cheaper watches being sold from ferraristore (like the pitcrew watch).

    Does the inner bezel rotate?

I'm guessing that is what the crown at the 10 o'clock position is.

Yes, it does. You are correct.

I told my wife about it being fake. She was disappointed of course, but then told me I can sell it and use the money to put toward a genuine Ferrari watch now, provided its not outrageously expensive...anyone got one?? Or want to trade?? Or want to buy this one now??

i dont think i would get rid of it just because it isnt a licensed product. it looks nice and as long as it works. i have a few "fakes as well". what did you pay for it if you dont mind?. i have about 7 GP ferraris and i have 2 of the paddock chrono ferraris from the ferraristore beverly hills. the GPs are pricey but the FS ones are about $500 and are very nice and they are not automatics, so you may want to look into them. there are 3 different versions. i have the black CF anf the brown ones.
    lmk if i can help

I would keep it if you like it. But if you don't, you said you took it the store, so they may take it back (However, they are selling unlicensed products so who knows).

Wear it and dont worry about it, ...I bought a "unlicensed" Panerai at a Ferrari car show a few years ago, ($125) it worked well and I liked it enough and wore it enough to realize that I wanted to "invest" in an authentic (albeit, preowned) Panerai (more than $3k)....Don't think my wife knows to this day..... From a couple inches away you can't tell the difference (at least I can't).

FYI, it came from an Ebay auction and was shipped from Canada, so no returning it like that. I think it was around $100...which is not too bad for an automatic, or so I have been told.

If I got a similar offer on it I might take it, but otherwise will just wear it and enjoy it from a while. Maybe look at something for the next big holiday that comes around. In the meantime I will just keep my eye out for something similar, but licensed properly.

For the $100, don't sweat it and enjoy the present/thought.

I would say "Real" Ferrari watches come in three forms:

1 - Quartz Models from Ferrari Store
2 - Recent High End ones from Girard Perregaux, and Panerai
3 - Older ones by Cartier

The Ferrari Store ones look nice but are of relative low quality for their $200-$700 price range.

The GP and Panerai are great watches, with used pricing starting at maybe $1500 and up. The GP ones are my personal favorite Ferrari Watch

The older Cartier watches are all over the place price wise. I would defer to their dedicated thread for info.

Of course, there are some very vintage pieces with odd Ferrari provenance that have been seen on this site, but they are rare.

Anyway, looks like a cool watch and $100 is a good price for it, so enjoy!

For $100 just enjoy the watch. Looks cool, got a lot of gizmos and it was a gift from a loved one.

I have a Cartier Chrono, and as a Ferrari-like feature it takes a special (19 point socket, IIRC) to change the battery!!
It's a Seiko inner movement, although a very nice one!

    For $800.

My first wife cried and beat on me when I bought it....it DID come with a 1:18 BBurago and a book!

The Book is pretty rare, a special edition of Piloti Che Gente!

Kiss your wife and thank her, I wouldn't ever have told her!

$100 for a "good" fake watch is a reasonable price!
