As the title says..I could use a little help before I actually go down to the camera shop to buy one. Im looking into a digital SLR camera. Canon or Nikon..Im not sure yet. Those are the name brand cameras..are there any other compareable D-SLR makers out there?

I guess budget is really the biggest factor? Im looking at max. 1500. Is that enough for the camera, all the extras and maybe a lense or two? The camera would be used more towards the Aviation photography area but taking pictures of cars wouldnt be out of the helm either. So, can anyone help me out here? What am I looking for in a good D-SLR camera? IE. Mega-pixels, aftermarket lenses, overall quality.

    Thanks!

I just bought the newest Canon digital Rebel XTi.... 10.x megapixel and comes with what seems to be a decent multi purpose lens. This is my first SLR and I really don't know a whole lot about them. I had really been considering a Canon EOS 5D (13.x MP) but couldn't justify to myself spending $2,800 bucks for a camera body with no lenses and the Rebel seemed to be a much more reasonable at $900. So far it seems to be an absolutely outstanding camera though I really don't know how to take full advantage of all it's features.

Obviously there's been a lot of discussion on this lately. The Rebel fits nicely in your budget, as does the Nikon D70s. Go to a good store that will let you handle both to get a feel for them. You may find you prefer the ergonomics of one over the other.
