    Hey guys-

I watched an extremely interesting program a year or two ago about a series forming in the middle east to be competitive with Formula 1. I believe it was being started by the prince of an oil rich country?

I CAN'T remember the name of the series, or the link to the video for that matter, and it's killing me!! Any help is much appreciated..

    Thank you!

Anyone follow A1? I love the idea of drivers representing their nations, kind of like the Olympics of motorsport. I've never had the opportunity to watch a race. How does it compare with F1?

I try to follow A-1 GP as much as I can, unfortunately the TV schedule is all over the place and hard to track if you do not have TiVo.
The races are a lot of fun. The cars use semi-hard tire compound, the car have a high down-force set up. It is interesting to see those cars doing 4 wheel drifts into the corners. There is also a lot of passing. They have an interesting two race format. The first race is a short sprint race, the second, or feature race is longer and has one mandatory pit stop. This pit stop makes the race very interesting since the strategy really comes into play. In actuality the cars can go the entire race with one set of tires, so sometimes the teams dive into the pits on the first few laps, and sometimes at the end of the race. The quality of drivers is all over the place; from current F-1 divers to young up-and coming drivers.
I think you can see the races on their web-site.
