    Hello Everyone,

Real pumped about buying my 1990 348 Red GTS from a local owner last week. The car has 19k on it and a 15k adn 30k has been done. The 30k was done back in 2000 with about 12k miles on the car. I would like to now start the car from ground zero as far as liquids are concerned..ie..oil, transmission, radiatior fluid etc...i check with a couple of dealers..one was Contenental and they told me point blank that I need anothed 30k because it is past 5 years since I last it done...cost (12k) ...dont think so...the car rides like a dream...i checked with fox vally motors (Lamborghini Dealer) and they said they would like to earn my business and would allow me to bring in my own oil, battery...however i still found there hourly rate high...any recommendations that any one can make on my scenario would be real helpful...as far as good mechanic, do it your self stuff (with in mean) would be real helpful!!! thanks again!

LFSC earns my sponsorship. They recently did major on my 360 last month and I am completely satisfied. Qualified staffs/ reasonable price and great service.

I have heard nothing bad (and lots of compliments) on LFSC and Continental. The car IS due for its 30,000 mile service, based on time. But, if you read all of the threads on here, this issue is somewhat controversial.

I can't imagine that changing the belts, fluids, is 12,000$. I would think about 4000$, based on threads on here. What exactly is included in the 12,000$???

If you are near Palatine, Ed's Affordable does a good job with simple service. I have had my 348 there several times for routine maintenace. He also serviced my 308 previously.

Call Autosprint in Chicago. Ph# 773-685-0930. Giovanni D'Avola owns and does all the Ferrari work. He does all mine and is well known by us all in the Ferrari world. Dealers charge dealer prices. He does not with the same or better quality. I also like that you have access to the actual mechanic instead of giving your car to the service writer who then tells the mechanic.

Belts on a 348 is an engine-out service. Costs more than a 550/575. Continental service is first rate.

    Guys,

the current miles on the car are 20300, I bought at 19,500k miles...as far as price goes I paid mid to upper fifties on a somewhat promise that the car is in tip top shape....I talked to John at autosprint today...he really sounds like he has a passion for this and I also plan on talkin to the guys at Ed's ...planning to take in the to John possibly....ALso the previous owner never had a problem with leaks and I have discovered a very small drip..John at autosprint said not to worry too much and also, today... while going to go buy cleaning products at local Autozone (i bought (chinelle, Maguars NXT, Maguars car wash, brake film protectant for wheels, and invisble glass)) I notcied that he check engine 1-4 light was on...what the heck is going on...I talk to John about that as well and told me as long as the car and power feels the way it should I shouldnt worry too much...this stuff is really starting to worry being a new owner and all. ALso thanks for the response guys..I dont feel like im alone trying to get this resolved...

    Richard-

Ed doesn't just do 'simple service'; he also does major!

Currently has a 308 for engine replacement, a Countach which he recently did an engine-out clutch job and a RR from Exotic Car Share, that sat for 2 years because no one could fix an electrical problem; Ed fixed it in a few hours.

    He's worked on 275 GTBs, 308s, 308 GT4s, 328s, 348s, 355s, TRs, 360s and many other exotics!

As you know, he does all of the work on my cars.

He's a good man, and honest!
