Anyone been there yet? The OEM pads are not up to fast laps. Maybe I should have ordered the ceramics. The dealer has nothing to suggest except fitting Challenge car brakes (which would certainly do the trick). Anyone know of higher performance pads I can use for the odd track day?

    Thanks!

How many laps did the pads make you feel a bit nervous?

I have the ceramics not by choice but because that was the way the car was ordered and the customer backed out.

Im sure you can get better pads can you try contacting Brembo?

Robert - my OEM pads went off (pedal pulsates, pads stink, braking distances get longer after two (yes) two laps of Le Circuit Mont Tremblant (www.lecircuit.com). In spite of street tires and lousy brakes, I was turning lap times within 11 seconds of the Challenge Racers. Amazing car but it wants sticky tires and better brakes for track use. Another 430 was running too, a novice driver who was going slower, but he had no brake problems at all with his ceramic rotors. They do work as advertised it seems. I'm not sure they are worth the additional expense ... but that's another story and besides, I would not be willing to pay $8,000 for a sticker as on the CS <grin>.

    Bob -

Check out the first post in this thread. I don't know what the price is, but it would be a great solution.

For competition pads for your current brakes, I would check with your local supplier of Ferodo (I used DS2500s as a good compromise track/street pad on my 360) or other similar pad. You might have to pull a stock pad and measure it to find something suitable.

    Gary,

Whichever pad worked on the 360 will work on the F430 with steel brakes.

The Brembo "challenge-style" 2-piece floating hat rotors retail for $3295 for the complete set (front and rear) and are ~6.5 lbs lighter (due to the aluminum hat) per rotor assembly as compared to the stock rotor. The best part is the replacement cost for the ring (rotor without hat) -- retail cost is $329 vs over $900 for a new factory rotor from the dealer.

Thanks, Jack. Same size pad, huh? I would have figured a bit larger.

I second the Ferodo's. I uses the 2500's on the AP brakes for the street, and 3000's for hot track use. Gentle on the rotors, but great performance.

    Guys,

Many thanks for the answers. I have ordered the Brembo kit and I'm sure I'll be in brake heaven with it. The idea of not having to pay a silly price for rotors is also very attractive.

    Best,
