    Hi Everyone,
I have authored a short article on choosing and buying a vehicle lift for Velostrada and Wayne has asked me if I can supply some pics ASAP. While I have pics of my two post lift, I need a shot or two of 4 post lifts (preferably with a Ferrari on it, but beggars can't be choosers!) and I need 'em FAST! If any one can help me out, please just post to this thread in 640x480 resolution and you too can be published in Velostrada!!

    Thanks in advance!

    Birdman

Its not a Ferrari but it has the heart and soul of one, here is my Dino on my 4-post list, one pic is when I was doing the brakes with the wheels off, other pic shows how tight it is in my garage, I had to remove a joist since I have 9ft. ceilings. (quality went south when I made them 640x480 and now that I look at it again, I sure wish that air hose was not in the way :( )

Michael, not sure where Richard got his but I got mine from Garage Equipment Supply ( http://www.gesusa.com/product_info.isg?products_id=165 ) there were the cheapest back in Feb., I paid $1425 in Feb. and picked it up myself. These guys do have free shipping so that can make a difference. If you look on Ebay you will find cheaper brands but I stayed with a known brand because I didn't want to drop a car. You can also find used ones, these things are popular with wheel/tire shops and also body shops for bringing the body up to a comfortable work height.

The thing is built quite well, I know Richard had to put the 2x6's to drive his Dino onto the lift (you can see them in the pictures) but for my FIAT Dino, I can just clear it with 1/4" to spare and no 2x6's. It has lifted my 3/4 ton GMC extended cab without a whimper also, its has a 6,000lbs lifting capacity and it is fairly easy to move around. Not something I would want to move daily but I work on my old Brit cars in the garage at a nice comfortable height and not bent over. When I need to I move it into the driveway for the daily drivers.

I assume Richard will chime in where he got his, I know he has a full workload at work these days.

    Michael,
I purchased mine through this website:
    http://www.e-autolifts.com/pitstop/pitstop.html

The cost includes delivery. I had to arrange for a forklift to remove from the truck. I used a local equipment rental shop. It cost me 75.00 to rent.

Once off the truck, it took me a less than an hour to connect the hoses from the pump to the cylinders and pour in the ATF fluid. You just plug it in 110vac and up you go.

I wish I had purchased this years ago when I owned my 308 Ferrari. It is a must for the Dino. Pulling the motor was a breeze with it and being able to lower / raise the Dino at will to access the top or bottom of the Dino is great.

What is really nice, is you can move it around in the garage when fully lowered with no car on it. The pump / hydraulic reservoir setup has wheels and an attachment point to connect to the lift and move the lift around. The lift weighs 1200 lb, but it will move.

You will be happy with one.

Mike has seen mine in action.

I also love the Grigio Ferro Metallic 106-E-8 paint. It contrasts very well with the white leather interior.
