    Hi,

My Dino 206 goes to the local registration department for (hopefully!) registration here in Jersey (UK) on 24th April - it's a 4 hour inspection.

One of the many boxes that need to be ticked is a speedo showing MPH markers. Of course, the 206 GT is exclusively KPH! I know I can get a professional sign-writer to paint a small inner dial in MPH but, quite honestly, the thought of doing that makes me feel a bit sick! :(

Is there any kind soul out there who may have a spare 246 speedo with either MPH on the inner or, prefererably, outer marker ring, that could lend to me just for this inspection? All courier costs paid of course, and I'll personally send it back on 25th April!

    Many thanks,

    Tony

Silly thought... but can't you just install an old Road Angel on the dash which reads in digital mph?

That hardly seems like a requirement to getting registration...to have a speedo in MPH. That would mean that NJ won't accept any cars imported from Europe.

Perhaps it's so they choose an inspector that knows how to convert from KPH to MPH if a road test is involved (that .6 multiplier can be challenging to some), or to indicate whether its odometer reading is in miles or kilometers. I had that issue on both my title and initial registration...they had my car down as having ~74,000 miles on it and it was supposed to be ~74,000km...huge difference. This mistake happened, even though the reg application form had the KPH checkbox checked!

But am not in the UK. Even if in Europe.

    PLs PM me if interested.

    Hi,

Thanks very much to those who made suggestions/offered to help. The problem has been solved by a sign writing company that will temporarily put on light adhesive MPH vinyl markers and digits on the actual speedo clock, then take them off after the car has passed it's registration test.

Job done, speedometer unmarked and all for £50!

    Cheers again,

    Tony
