I noticed recently that I am having some lighting issues with my 355, and I am hoping for some help. The rear lights no longer work. The brake lights and turn signals work as intended, but the running lights do not turn on. In addition, my front fog lights and interior dash lights no longer work either. The radio, headlights, overhead light and HVAC function properly.

I tried tonight to change out some fuses, but had no luck. Could this be an issue with the larger Bosch fuses? (I'm not sure what they are called...) or something else?

    Any help would be appreciated.

FWIW, I just did a search and checked the "hidden fuses" in the boot.

    No luck...

My suggestion: Go to the Ricambi website and look for the page that covers the electrical board located in the passenger footwell. There should be an electrical relay, maybe more than 1, that controls power to the rear lights and the front lights. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I was unable however to find any think specific as to which relay it might be.

Anyone else have any ideas? Daniel?

Luke, I saw 2 relays listed on the passenger side footwell diagram listed as directional lights and emergency flashers, but I don't think either one is related to your problem. Then I looked at the parts diagram book that I have at home and couldn't find any additional detail either. The 355 manual from The355.com does not have a detailed electrical board layout. I have the workshop manual CDs at home and I'll look at those tonight. Let us know if you figure it out!

Okay, sorry for the delay. The electrical diagram is actually in my owner's manual. My car is a 97, so the electrical boards look slightly different.

Please go to the front electrical board drawing on Ricambi (the one that is in the front boot.) I think your rear running lights and side marker lights are controlled by relay #28, Ricambi # 157802. Those 2 relays sit side by side on the board. 1 controls the headlights and the other controls the side+tail lights. Pull out 1 at a time to see which one controls headlights.

Fog lights should be relay #27, Ricambi #157991.

Instrument panel lights should be a single 7.5 amp fuse on the same board.

Please keep in mind that I am comparing the descriptions and locations shown in my 1997 owner's manual diagram to the Ricambi 1995 electrical board diagram and assuming they are the same. I could be wrong....and it seems a little weird that they would all go bad at the same time. Sorry I could not be of more help :(

    Hi All,

I have the exact same problem in my 98 and checked all the relays and fuses for functionality. At this point I am lost also.

Funny thing is when I it the parking light switch on the center dash counsole, the lights function properly. When my headlights are off and I pull the bright light switch for passing purposes, my fog lights also work.

Dash lights, tail lights, side marker lights do not turn on with the headlight switch.

I'm sorry I didnt see this post until now! Thanks for taking the time to provide a thorough answer. Sadly, I put the "Maytag" away in storage for the winter. She's safe and warm offsite, and likely won't see daylight till February at which point she will be flatbeded to Competizione for Tubi headers and a major service.
I will report back as to the cause of the issue once they have a look at the problem.

One to keep in the back of your mind that I have run into a few times on the 355's...

Blowing fuses on the running lights was traced to the exposed throttle cable up by the pedal cutting into the main harness leading from the footbox, throught the center console, to the rear of the car. Proper routing of that harness is critical, and often over looked.

have the same issue .. rear tail lights and running lights not working, checked all the fuses and also swapped out the relay in the front trunk, responsible for driving lights and rear tail lights, still nothing.

    Thanks in advance ..

side note .. all other lights are working

Perhaps a problem with your steering column switch.

Power comes off the ignition key, goes through the column switch to the coil of relay "F" (E9) in the forward luggage compartment. This allows power from the battery to flow through the relay contacts to two fuses (13 & 14), then to the front and rear lights.

Do the lights work with the "P" switch on the centre console? That bypasses relay "F" (and uses battery power only).

Can you confirm the relay number?

I had the very same problem. Replacing relay F in the luggage compartment fixed it. Bosch part number 0332015013 available at the local parts store. It's the only unique relay in that compartment, easy to identify. Part number printed on top. Remove to screws in carpet to gain access. The same part number also operates the air pump, that relay is in the footwell.

He said he already changed the relay, Eric. Anyway, I hope he's fixed it by now (it was nearly 4 years ago)
