HELP NEEDED. My 308 GT4 Engine/chassis number.

    Hi all, after someone viewed my car with interest in buying, it was brought to light that the chassis number and the engine number on the logbook were identical thus the engine number on the engine itself not matching what's on the logbook. I've never known an engine and chassis number to be identical so I am guessing it's a DVLA misprint? My car has only done 38k miles and is totally original so I'll be very shocked if it's not matching numbers, is there anyway I can find out what the engine number to my car should be so I can see if it is matching?

    Calm & breath - very normal

    The Maranello Archive only has limited GT4 material but that's a starting point if you have doubts your engine is original (why ?) - otherwise its possible the factory might (but probably won't) help

    It's a misprint; the engine and chassis aren't matched, in the way something like vintage Corvette is.

    The historical dept at Ferrari can verify the true numbers, assuming the records have not been lost. Personally, if the buyer demands such verification I'd thank them for their interest and part ways.

    There are many posts on the subject. Engine,gearbox and body panels may have different numbers not matched with the final assembling sequence ( chassis number)
