    Hey guys,

The battery on a clients car has packed up after 19 years of being in his SE30 Jota. the local dealer say they no longer make the battery from the Diablo SE30, but the Murcie or the Gallardo battery will fit. I have been quoted a price of 900€ for the battery and 250€ for fitting!!

My Q is, does it have to be an original battery from Lambe? & are they easy to fit? I know the rear wheel has to come off to do it as it is hidden behind the inner wheel arch.

    900€€ !!! for a battery!!! ???

Any advice would be very gratefull!

    Thanks guys

    MD

No way I would spend that much for a battery. There are many good aftermarket, high-power batteries (interstate, deka, etc) for much less. Absolutely no reason to get a battery from Lambo.

19 year old battery in a SE30.....Hmm, SE30 option first became avalible in 94/95 I belive...

Anyway, remove the rear wheel, and arch, measure the battery width, hight and depth. Read the CCA number on the old battery, note how the +/- poles are turned ( + left or + right).

Go to your local autoparts store and they will find a selection of batterys that will fit. Excide, optima, varta etc etc.

If you pay 900$ for a battery....Well thats just stupid IMO.

Thanks! There is no way he would be paying 900€ for a new battery, i would not let it happen! YThats just how ALL the dealers in Monaco work! They think that you live in a place that is super rich they can rip you off, ive called Lamborghini UK they said £189 plus the vat @ 17.5%, so where the 900€ comes from god only knows!

thanks for the posts guys, i knew all would not be lost on here!!

Im not saying a word about the car. My clients are my priority and i believe in 100% confidentiality, and the car is not registered in Monaco!

    Just so we are clear....

You come to this site to ask a question of the members, a question which, by the way anyone with the most basic of mechanical background and a owner's manual could figure out by themselves.

When the members are kind enough to respond to your query, and ask a simple question in return, you act like you are trying to guard a state secret.

Perhaps next time you should just buy the part from the dealer and have them install it.

Do you really think the owner cares if you tell people that you washed his (black, purple, red, etc) Diablo?

A few of my clients are worth in the hundreds of millions and couldn't give a shi t.

Jesus take a chill pill!! My business prides it's self on confidentiality and i stick to it! And for your info the owners manual is in another country so it was not possible to look at it!

Thats your clients not mine! When you are asked not to post pictures you have to go with what the client says! And money does not come into it!

Sorry but I have to side with Monaco on this one. He is protecting his client base. There is nothing wrong with that and nothing more professional IMO.

This forum isn't a "quid pro quo" format. He has every right to keep his client's cars confidential.

Let me give you an example of what can and did happen.

A few years ago I saw a picture of a Maserati Bora. From just the picture I pinpointed the location, found the car, got the VIN, found the previous broker, and called him. After a lengthy conversation, and a promised finder's fee, I managed to get the buyer's office number and e-mail. Evideltly this guy buys older cars like candy.
    Anyway
I called the owner, who was EXTERMELY surprised (shocked) how, A.) I got his information. B.) I wanted to buy his Bora. And C.) that the car he just bought was sitting in an open parking lot in the Texas heat instead of the storage facility.
Needless to say he was upset on many levels. I didn't buy the car because he didn't want to sell it and it was gone a couple of days later.

THANK YOU!! My problem is i look after sooo many rare cars & expensive super cars, some owners don't mind it others do, this occasion the owner asked me not to so i am just doing what i am told! Monaco is a very small place and one wrong move could see my business gone!

Good for you...I agree with you as well...you owe only to your client and not to all the others wanting information...stick to your guns..you are correct here.

So the real issue is the owner asked you not to.

For the record I agree with you but all seriousness no one asked for the vin/location etc., just the colour...give me a break! You wouldn't be breaking any confidentiality agreements as you're not giving away any of the owners information.

Unless the car is for sale, what difference does it make what color it is??? I've never understood this obsession some people have with other people's possessions, and the collecting of VIN numbers is even more bizarre.

The problem is if i give you the colour you will know the car from there you can get the number out of 150, vin & owner - its that simple and you know it is.

Its called confidentiality!! Weather the car is for sale of not (which its not) is besides the point! Why do i seem to be getting stick for not giving info out that i deem as confidential, i know if it was my car and i asked for no info to be given out and it was given out esp on a forum where several Lambo collectors & dealers hang out, i too would be angry, and i dont fancy compromising my business, its how i earn money to live!

Now the fact is i have gained the info i needed, again thanks to those for that, now for me the subject is closed!
