Alright, I'm just about ready to tear the heads off of the Microsoft producers.

I just got FSX deluxe, and I installed it fine. I played the game for 30 minutes when it prompted me after the installation, but when I closed it the game disappeared forever. There were no icons installed. Its not in the start menu anywhere. I sifted through all of the computer files and there is no start button. When I try to insert the disc, the computer turns on the fan like its loading but then does NOTHING. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it but NOTHING. And I'm getting really ticked off, because apparently this problem is unheard of.

    Any help please?

Did you check the program files folder?

    Great!

BTW, what kinda system do you have? I was thinking about that game, but am not sure if my system would handle it. How is the game?

Eh, I closed it and tried to run it again today, but the same problem arose. I'm so pissed at this game now.

But when I played it, it seems pretty cool, my only complaint are changing all of the views. There are a LOT.

I have a Dell Dimension E520. I don't really know the specs though, sorry.

    PS-Congrats on the new subscription!

Thanks! I had to upgrade to post some new pictures :)

Nice computer you have. I don't think FSX would run on my system. Good luck getting it worked out. Microsoft is the Anti-Christ, but I'm sure you know that already.

Same problem I had, system would shut down when I put the CD in. I had to call the Microsoft IT help number on the back. They walked me through some tech vocabulary maze. Best advice, get on the phone with them and they will walk you through it.

No, it doesn't shut down. I load it, but there is no icon anywhere, and when I go to search for the icon in my computer I can find it. But when I click it, FSX won't open. Nothing happens.

There are several settings that you have to adjust to get the program to run. Best bet is the Microsoft Gaming Help, it will take about 30 minutes to work it out with them......then you should be good to go.

I've got FSX deluxe (got it 3 days after it came out!) The computer I've got it on right now is my notebook: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz, 1GB DDR2 somethin, nVidia GeForce Go 7600 256mb, 100GB SATA 7200rpm.

I can run it at the native 1680x1050 resolution with the detail settings at about 40% and I get 20-30 fps. But my notebook gets very very very warm! The MS Flight Sim series has always been known to push hardware to the edge.

I don't want to sound like a downer... but.... the single player game play isn't changed much from FS2004. Infact 90% of the aircraft are repeats. I'd like to see them have downloadable missions being constantly updated online, with maybe a points system for completing the missions successfully. Multiplayer can be fun, or not, depending on the mission or who you're playing with. But the graphics are the biggest improvement, so if you really want to get the most out of FSX make sure your hardware is up to snuff.... in fact I'm seriously considering building a dedicated FSX system using some random parts laying around and just buying a $300 video card and as much RAM as I can fit. Then download an F-22 plugin and weave through the Norwegian fjords or Grand Canyon, downtown New York, maybe the Himalayas. Great fun!

Wild. I got a Dell 8200. It's a 2Ghz PC, but I've only got 256MB ram and a 128MB NVida GeForce 420. The ram is the problem, it's PC800 ram, and is insanely expensive. Runs fast as hell though, I can have Firefox and Photoshop running at the same time, and I'm on XP. Not bad for 256. I'm gonna upgrade soon, then I'll get FSX. It's the graphics I love :D

They also removed many of the Century of Flight historic aircraft that were in FS2004.

Thats why people make them and post them online for download. Those websites are great!
