Hello to this place. Sorry for me english is not mother tongue.

When negotiaing with dealer in Canada on 355 on lot for $129,000 how much can negotiate price? Do dealer have much place to negotiate or are price tight? Is different with person not dealer then with dealer?

    Thank you for you help.

It depends, but with most dealers on a used car you can negotiate. It's not like on new cars where the price is firm (if you can even get one).

Hey RaginRosso - welcome to Fchat. Maybe fill out your profile so we know what city you're in at least.

as in life, everything is negotiable! I've found some dealers to be more flexible than others - April is tougher to negotiate than January with these cars. You can probably figure out that they bought the car for less than $129 from someone else, or have it on consignment. Do they want a home run and will wait for the right buyer, or settle for less. Only one way to find out.

There was a thread here somewhere asking what the average discount on used Fcars was. 0-10% was the more common range, iirc (and my memory's very vague at best). And, of course, larger discounts happened too.

A word of advice though - don't buy on price alone, buy the best damn Fcar you can find - in the best mechanical condition, even if it means stepping down a model or waiting. And leave 10% in reserve, in cash, for the little surprises these cars can have after sitting on a dealers lot, or just because they don't like the way you shift or...

Highly recommend having an expert Ferrari mechanic inspect any car you're seriously considering up front - will help your negotiations and they'll steer you right for the car and prices.

If you indeed are at the level of buying a Ferrari at the price you mention, I would expect you to be past the point of asking this kind of questions, as you should know the answer already.
Fill out your profile as a start.

So typical. An FChat visitor, who obviously is not from the US, asks a simple question and a couple of wise guys have to come up with cute disparaging remarks. Look, clearly he's asking for advice. If you don't have any, keep your yaps shut and let the more helpful chatters post instead.

And, IMHO, the dealer has plenty of room to move in that car. Unless it's in pristine, mint, almost-no-miles condition, it ain't worth what he's asking.

I disagree. When I moved up from American sports cars, I actually believed the lies of why (new) Fcars sell at above MSRP (demand), but came to find out about a manufacturer that limits supply. If I assumed they were like American cars, I would be out mucho mula no matter how much I got them down from the asking price.

Randy - get a sense of humor. I'm pretty sure he'll get all the advice he needs, and a whole lot more that may not be so helpful as well.
You obviously haven't been on this forum too long. We do dispense very useful advice to specific questions, but sometimes the questions are so vague that only a little humor will do. IMVHO of course :)
How can anyone possibly advise anyone else as to the value of car they have never seen without any context whatsoever! (That's what I mean by less than helpful advice).
And BTW, I don't care how pristine it is, a 355 ain't worth $129,000, even Canadian money .

You may want to post your inquiry in the 348/355 section along with the particulars on the car. For starters, year, model, (B, S, Spider), F1 or manual, mileage, service history, private or dealer sale.

Sorry for ask question. Friend say here place with lots people who know about this car.

I no speak good english and try to make my best. I ask question because on used car I buy before in Canada like Mercedes I get 25-30% off ask price from dealer on 4 year old Mercedes with low mile. I no know if Ferrari can expect same percent off price or any percent off price at all.

Car I look at is 1996 355 spider red/tan 19000 kilometer. Dealer say in excellent condition. I want to negotiate price bit before I go to see car. I no think car value $129,000 so if no can negotiate then me no go see car. That why I ask.

This profile people ask me to fill. How I do this? I not used to this kind of system here.

Thank to people who take time to help me.

    Welcome to Ferrarichat!
Before you buy any Ferrari, you should do the following:
1- Make sure the car has been serviced regularly. Ask for maintenance records. Check to see if the major has been done.
2- Have the car inspected by an independent Ferrari mechanic.
3- You may want to run the Vin number through Carfax.
4 - Check to see what other 355 spiders are going for in Canada.

    I hope this helps,

Hey gang, remember it is April 1st.

Look at his moniker "Ragin Rosso".

Also, for someone who doesn't speak English too well, because it isn't his "mother tongue', he didn't misspell one word, and only had one typo.

I think those of you that took his post seriously, have been had!! :D

You could very well be right. On the other hand, he could have hit spell check. That would not help with syntax though. And, there is the fact that those who honestly tried to give sound advice gave it to all of us. No harm done.
