    Hi guys,

Could anyone give me a hint where they would usually install a Blaupunkt BQA amplifier back in 1986?

I can see the wire going downwards from the radio slot towards the passenger side seat.

    Thanks,
    Rene

Hello Rene, when I cleaned up my 86 Testarossa and removed all the aftermarket electronics, I found the amp under the passenger seat :). Not sure if you’re aware but the cars never came with a stereo or amp from the factory. When I reinstalled an amp and a more modern stereo, I was able to tuck the amp under the spare tire.

Thanks for your reply…. Will check tomorrow. Yes, I‘m aware the TR‘s never came with a factory fitted radio. But mine got equipped with a Blaupunkt SQR-06 and the amplifier prior to delivery by the dealer. And I just want to know where the amplifier sits.

Did you need to remove the seat to see it?

    Thanks, mate.

But where was it placed then? Underneath the seat only or even underneath the carpets or panel?

That was only true for the USA. Ferrari installed a radio and amplifier in non USA cars.

If it is a USA car your radio and any associated components were put wherever the radio shop chose. There was no real pattern to that. If your car was not a USA version from looking at the parts manual it is probably either under the console between the foot boxes or in the bay beneath the passengers feet.

Hi Brian, no it’s a Swiss car…. That’s why it has the Blaupunkt equipment. Quite THE go-to in Europe back in the days.

And you‘re right at least I couldn’t see anything underneath the seat.

I can only see that the cable for the amplifier goes downwards from the middle console and then towards the middle tunnel somehow?!?

Pull out the carpeting from the passenger side footwell. You will see a kick panel that can be removed.

Yes. 4 outer screws in the corners remove it. The 4 screws in the middle of it are likely how the amp is mounted to it on the other side of it.
