I've got my 206 Dino for sale on FerrariAds. A few minutes ago, I got a message from a Mike Mitchell inquiring about the car. Unfortunately, my voice mail crapped out just as he was leaving his number. So Mike, if you're on FChat. please call me again.

Sorry ... and sorry for the interruption.

$139 k which seems to be what was said in a previous thread that GTs seem to lag the GTS cars by $50k.

you are comparing 206 prices vs. 246 prices. 206 prices seem to be lower than 246 to begin with.

Personally that specific 206 has been my dream car for many years now (well over a decade when I first saw this car), I think it is the ultimate Dino.

Bob, that is a very nice car in a great color. I was never aware that the 206 was produced in a spyder model.

    Wish I had the money.

    Good luck in your sale.

This is most likely a one off. I've never seen another one, either in person or in mags, articles, etc.

Can't concours compete with it, at least not with the FCA, I wouldn't think, but a very cool car indeed.

In Europe the price for a 206 could be 50% higher than for a 246 gt! You just can't find them!

The original owner of the car commissioned the conversion. It was done in Europe (probably Germany) by a firm called Webesto, before delivery to that owner in the Los Angeles area.

I have spoken with someone who was acquainted at that time with the original owner (now deceased), and he said he thought another friend of the owners' bought another 206 around the same time, and had the same conversion done.

Separately, on the Dino Register listing for the car, one of its other previous owners is quoted as saying it is one of a total of seven that were converted. But I have no way of knowing if this is accurate.

You are correct that it is ineligible for concours judging under FCA rules. But it still gets a bit of attention at car shows, etc. I brought it to the last Concorso Arizona, along with another car (365GTC) that I entered for FCA judging. Even though the 365 won a platinum award there, I'm sure that many more people came to talk with me about the 206.

Just for the record, it's Webasto, and I'm pretty sure they're a UK company, which isn't to say that they might not have had a German subsidiary.

Very interesting,....see, IMO this is kindof where the judging bites it's nose to spite it's face....

Why not point out the modification on a story card noting it's rarity and also the foreshadowing of the Factory supplied GTS?

These are the stories cool to know!

Thanks for the link Dinodan I think you have it!

what is sad is this car is original and modified in the period, yet it can't compete, yet cars that have been resurrected from much worse can, because they are period correct. seems a little strange, doesn't it?
