Yes I admit it. Despite having a decent car - the 'mystique' that beholds the brand is too alluring. I'm looking at a F430, '06 w/ only 600 miles (talking about garage queens!). F1 w/ no stories. Selling price is P16M = US$355K. If I strip out the taxes, I'm buying the car for about $250K. I've read in another thread that the price could drop to $150K - $175K when the new model comes out next year? Is this right? Someone referred it to as the F12? Why? 12 cylinders? Anyway, you guys are the experts and I need your help please. Should I just try to import a CS? I can't afford a Scud sadly. I'm also looking at a '03 Murci for P12M = $255K.

    Which GT3 do you have, a 996 or 997 GT3?

The 996 GT3 is somewhat of a raw car, and is not as good of a road car as the 997 GT3 or F430. The F430 rides better than either GT3, and has more ground clearance (though, you can easily lower the F430). The F430 also has more low and mid-range torque than the GT3, which is noticeable when driving around town. The GT3's are not lacking for torque, but they do not have the F430's potent mid-range power. Up top, both pull hard.

Resale wise, the F430 will likely do pretty well, especially if the new model (F460?) costs the rumored $275K (US). Factor in the inevitable mark-up over MSRP and F430 values should be strong. The 997 GT3 should hold its value pretty well, too (it's better looking and more road friendly than the 996 GT3).

I had a 997 GT3 and it's a great car, definitely one of the best modern Porsches. It's fast, it handles well and it's very solid/well built (looks good, too). However, it does not have the racy feel of the Ferrari (at normal road speeds, at least). The Ferrari is more alive, and has even more of a mechanical feeling than the GT3. Heck, just being in the Ferrari is special. Driving the F430 gives you an exhilarating feeling similar to that of riding a performance motorcycle. The short wheelbase GT3's do change direction very quickly, though, which is fun. Both cars sound good, but the F430 is louder and more aggressive.

Quality wise, the Ferrari has a bit of a hand made look/feel that, ultimately, is maybe half-a-notch below that of the 997 generation Porsches, which are very well finished. The Ferrari is well built, of course, just not in a mainstream way (if that makes any sense).

The CS is a wonderful car, but it is a raw road going experience. Also, it doesn't have the F430's power, which is nice if you're using the car mostly on the street.

The murci is nice, too, but it's a heavy car and feels that way. Looks and sound great, though.

    Hope this helps.

I have had alot of porsches as well to me the Ferrari is more delicate.Honestly the GT3 or the Turbo 997 handles better than the Ferrari F430 or it maybe I'm more confident in the Porsches.I would like to hear your comparision.
