89 Countach Dire need for plug wires!! Can everyone give advice as to the proper way to replace the wires? Meaning, should I use a premade set or do I need to get a length of wire and ends and make them up? PROs vs. CONs? Cost difference? Any reliability difference? I have some emails out, but am hoping for a miracle. I would like to have the car for the Exotic Car Rally at Foxwoods, but I realize thats not realistic. I'm in CT. (New England) I Really Appreciate All of Your Help!!!! Peter C.

I just got a price sheet from Sergio Castellani at Autoricambi d'epoca http://www.autoepoca.it/home.php Here are the latest prices he sent me for CAVIS wire sets: WIRE SET CAVIS LAMBORGHINI MIURA 240.00 EURO SET LAMBORGHINI LM 240.00 SET COUNTACH 50004V 390.00 JALPA 3500 240.00 DIABLO 390.00 EURO COUNTACH ANNIVERSARY 380.00 COUNTACH 5002 V 290.00 JARAMA 240.00 ESPADA-JARAMA-MIURA 2 COLIS 240.00 EURO URRACO 240.00 DIABLO SV 5,7- 580.00 DIABLO 6.0 AFTER 1997 580.00 LM 4 VALVES 370.00 Are you running the MSD Ignition system on your 25th? If so, I would suggest using a 8.5mm wire, such as MSD sells. From what I understand, the MSD puts out much more power and the 8.5mm wire handles the current better than the thinner OEM wire. One thing nice about MSD wire sets, is they are like 1/3 the cost of the OEM set. Also, HD Rogers (in the UK), sells sets too: http://www.hdrogers.com/lamborghinishop1.html As Gary stated above, GT Car Parts and Evans Automotive are excellent choices too, and I believe they both have the sets in stock. Gurslo, I made mine from MSD wire (8.5 mm), used the original spark plug end boots, Tayler brand distributor boots and crimp connectorrs, and a high quality racheting crimper. The 8.5 mm wire won't go into the stock spark plug boot nor the round rubber lacing or loom holders (for lack a of a better name) since they are made for 6.5/7 mm wire. I used an old, dull valve guide reamer chucked into a drill motor, spun in reverse rotation with penty of silicone spray to enlarge these items enough to push the MSD wire through them. Crimp your ends and using an old spark plug, push the end back into the boot to the optimal depth. Either use a can of CO spray to wash the silicone lubricant away or give the wires enough time for it evaporate naturally (naturally takes quite a bit of time). The reamer I used was a .343 diameter, common for small block Chevy. I could control the amount of cutting action by squeezing the boots and loom pieces as the reamer turned inside them. More squeezing pressure cut faster. This was about half the price of the originals and with enough left over materials to make a new set of wires for my old v8 jeep. Good luck!!
I agree 100% and add Chad to the list. Stick with originals. Don't feel bad about Foxwoods, mine is not ready either. Not that I like or would bring any of my cars there.......too public for me
