Does anyone know of any clean Testarossas w/a good history for sale?
Some say the TRX tire are expensive, but what isn't expensive on a Ferrari. Coker tires has tires for the front and rear. The rear tires are about $370 each. What's a extra couple hundred when you conside the other cost of maintaining the car. The tires are available. I bought front tires (TRX) from TireRack for $220 each. Not bad! Just my 2-cents.
Some things you might want to look out for when shopping: 1. Dash leather shrinkage 2. Excessive seat leather bolster wear 3. Gauges that may need service / replacement 5. Condition of fuse / relay panel 6. Possible seal leaks 7. Does it have all tools / pouches / rolls and owners manual(s) / pouch ? Plus many other assorted niggling things that may need sorting out. Generally, a good PPI should bring to light many of these items. TR's are wonderful cars, but they do have their own list of trouble items depending on year, condition, service / maintenance history, driving history, etc. Best of luck to you and your friend in the search...
Thank you very much EriC! You mentioned year, what year was the most troublesome for the TR's? What are the number of some trouble items? ThanX!
My pleasure BTW, I posted a response to "TR troublespots, etc." in your thread in the Technical Discussion section.
My A/C fan blower switch only operates on off or high. This is a little annoying. Does anyone know of a fix for this? I heard from a few on this board that there isn't a fix for this and it's just part of early TR ownership.
The power transistor for your fan blower has probably failed (for anything less than full speed, the blower motor current is controlled by the power transistor; at full speed, +12V is put directly on the blower motor by a relay bypassing the power transistor).
I owned a 1989 TR. And was advised from the beginning to stay with at least a 1998 1/2 or better. The '89 and '90 are basically the same car. Go for the '90.
