I posted this Saturday on General Discussion. There is a long thread there regarding this. I am new and just learned of the louisiana section..........

Last night I was rear ended VERY HARD by a 19 year old who was charged with DWI, negligent injury, and careless operation. I have had my 99 355 F1 GTS dream car 2 weeks to the day. I have worked very hard to finally be able to buy my dream car and it took me several months to find the perfect car. This forum helped me a lot in the buying process and I am hoping it will help me again. I am so depressed I cannot explain. I left the accident scene in an ambulance due to back, neck, and head injuries-but even with my pain my great sadness is the car. My beautiful dream car I have literally waited all my life for and have only had 2 weeks!!! WHY!!! I know that with all the options my car has ( F1, Challenge Grille, Red GTS roof to match, red brake calipers, etc.), basically perfect to me, that it is rare and irreplaceable in my eyes and I am so so upset. I cannot get his insurance information until I get the police report on monday at least. Something tells me that he has minimal if not minimum coverage. What do I do? What kind of battle am I in for with his insurance company? Anyone who has experience something similar or anyone who has ny suggestions or can help me at all PLEASE HELP ME. I dont know what to do or what I am in for and I am not rich by any means so this is a major deal for me. And to give an idea of how much I love my car if I was told it could be totaled out and I could make a 20k profit, I would still rather my car. I am just so upset. Please respond with suggestions or advice if you can. Thanks, Teddy.

dude that sucks so bad. i have no suggestions because i am only 17 myself, but i say you go to that little sh!ts parents and tell them to do something about it. an aquaintance of mine did the same thing 6 weeks ago (DUI) into the back of a brand new e55 20 minutes after the buyer left the lot with it (no idea why he was piss drunk at 4pm) and the owner went to the kids parents and told them that if they didnt do something about it then they were just as responsible and *******s just as much as the kid if they didnt do something to make it right. depending on how well off the family is financially, getting them to hand over enough money could be a trick. but definitely tell them how you worked your whole life for this car, and (this might be BSing) but tell them that it is a truly one-off Ferrari built to your custom desires, and youve had it for two weeks. i guarantee theyll at the very least try to pay you pack in some way or amount.

like i said, this isnt the best advice possible since im only 17, but ive seen this idea in action, and it worked.

ps- just for the record, nobody ever has to worry about me driving, never had more than 1 sip of wine on any given occasion. i stay clean!

    Teddy,

Get yourself a good lawyer, he won't cost you a dime in this case, and he will get you whatever you want, insurance or not. Fighting this battle alone may not give you all you are owed.

Call me I'd be glad to help. 504-456-8649. You need to check to see if you have UM. Aside from making sure you are ok physically, you need to look into dimisished value. Also in Louisiana there is punative damages for drunk driving. I'd be happy to help you with this.

I have been posting updates in the general discussions section on the thread I started under this same title. All should look there and see the entire thread, and my updates on the situation. I am new to this and I dont know how to put a link to that thread on this post or else I would. Please go check it out there. Thanks, Teddy.
