    What I do to remove rivets is using a small steel drill bit. Go to home depot and buy new pistol and this is how you use it;

    What style rivet are you refering to? Solid, tubular (similar to a "pop" rivet)?

    Getting the old one out is the easy part... just drill it out (drill bit is the same or ever so slightly smaller dia. than the rivet body dia). This assumes that you can get the drill and bit into position to drill straight. Some times you can grind/cut the head (if not a c'sink head) or the expanded portion off and knock the rivet out with a drift pin.

    Installation of the new rivet depends on the type of rivet... I am sure a web search can show you options.

    Good luck!!!
