Call me crazy but I want to remove the belly pan on my Stradale so I can do a comprehensive detail underneath the engine area. Can someone tell me how difficult removing the belly pan is? It looks like there are about 12+ bolts and it simply comes off. Is it really this easy? Any tips or things I should be concerned about doing this myself? Is this a two person job? My guess putting it back on is a bit more tricky than removal? Thanks.

Are you kidding? I'm not looking to remove the rear defuser just the belly pan. If I have to remove the rear bumper this will not be happening.

Anyone else have any experience here? I was looking to do this project this weekend. If I really have to remove my bumper to remove the belly pan I will be looking for another project to do. This just doesn't sound right.

No bumper needs to be removed. Just raise the CS up and remove those screws. There's nothing to it. It's very easy if you have a lift. Good luck and have fun.

The bumper doesn't come off in order to remove the belly pan, unless you need remedial erector set and lego classes.

The challenge is that if you lift the car at the jack up points at the rear, you lift at a hole in the pan. So, it needs to be lifted by the wheels, otherwise the pan will get hung up on the jack.

I'm loving every minute of it; even when I'm not driving just being able to take a peek at it in the garage gets my heart rate up. I love this car so much!

Good news is that I have a Bendpak lift in my garage. I'm staring at the belly pan right now and asking myself do I really want to start this project on my own? Looks like a 2 person job. I might find another part of the car that I can detail. Getting hard to find. :)

Nah, it's no bother. As said, you just need to support the car with it's wheels elevated as axle stands or jacks (placed in the correct position) lock the pan in place. It's worth figuring out how as it needs to come off for general maintenance, retrieving nuts, bolts, spark plugs and tools you drop down there.

Never thought I'd say I'm glad the 360 has belts! :D

p.s. Oh! That is a 360 engine. What chain is that? Oil Pump?

Yeah, oil pump chain. The tensioner fail and the chain got into the timing gears and even over some piston areas! You should see how the oil starvation fried the bearings on the front journals!!

I didn't get to this part of the car this weekend but I am determined to do it. I want to clean under the engine area, etc. Not that it is all that dirty but if you saw the rest of the car you would understand my obsession.

Below is a photo of my car on the lift. Just to be clear I don't need to jack up the car because I can lift the car on the wheels and get underneath it. Is all I have to do is remove the bolts that are holding this belly pan on and it will simply drop down and can be removed? Are there any other clips or anything I need to be aware of? Is there any trick to holding it in place until I get the final bolt off so I don't screw something up? Also, when re-installing the pan, is there a trick to holding it up so you can easily find the bolt locations to re-attach the pan? For someone that has done this before is this a 15 min job or 2 hour job?

Assuming it's the same on a CS as a Modena it's a five minute job with your equipment. Let go the rear-most two sets of bolts on the mid-floor then proceed to the rear-floor. Suggest you loosen but leave attached two bolts approx in the middle then remove all the rest. When you're ready just remove the last two while supporting the weight by by hand. Weight will be easily managed by one.

Assembly is equally straightforward but an extra pair of hands will make it easier.

Lovin your lift by the way. Excellent piece of kit. Care to let us know the approx cost?

p.s. Your car looks absolutely mint. Nice one.

Thanks Greg! This raises the question is the belly pan the same on the 360 as the CS? Looking underneath it seems more than a 5min job to me.

First time maybe a little longer but with a lift like yours and ability to walk around under the car I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The only diff that I can think of is the rear diffuser but it's already been confirmed that you don't need to remove that (or the bumper) to take off the "rear-under-f" so I think you're good to go.

Can you post some more photos of that lift? It looks excellent. I'm guessing it's a four post with ability to lift entire car on it's wheels but also to lift the car off of it's wheels using what looks like lifting arms attached to the main ramp? Maybe you'd PM me the make / model / cost?

Per your request here are some more photos of the lift and jack system. Purchased all through Bendpak. They are the best! It is their HD-9 lift custom painted black. Standard is blue. Do a search in the Detailing section. I have a thread on it.

Excellent - found your thread and have sent Jeff a mail.

I've never been all that taken with the four post ramps before now but that setup you have is excellent.

One issue I'd have would be that I'd have to park the car on the ramp each and every time as my garage, while a double, really doesn't have the space for a lift like that plus walk-around space plus another free parking space. How would you feel about recommending the lift to someone in my position? I don't drive the car as a daily but it's out and about several times a week. Would it be a PIA to have to park it on the ramps each and every time?

Wouldn't you just raise the lift and park under it? rzundel's original lift article is great and his CS has to be among the cleanest in existence.

I'm glad to hear that you sent Jeff a note. He's a great guy.

If your garage is deep enough where you could keep the drive on ramps connected to the lift I don't see any reason why you couldn't drive on and off the lift frequently. It sounds like you don't intend to store a car underneath but looking to use the lift to work on your car as needed. Is that correct?
