i recently noticed a slight exhaust blow on my 82 mondial qv.....found it to be a small split in the rear manifold.......i just cannot get my welding torch to it so need to drop it off car......however it looks like i have to drop the engine to get it out.....anybody else removed one of these with the engine in situ ????

also i noticed a sender/sensor down near the clutch housing, looks to be about 2 inch round with 2 terminals on it, mine has no wires going to it...anybody know what it does ?????

many thanks for the replies in advance

yep, it's doable with out removing or touching the engine mounts. the front bank comes out the side towards the alternator. you'll need to remove the alternator and A/C unit. the rear bank comes out the top, so you'll have to remove the fuel distributor, most can be layed over without removing the lines.

Took mine out to do a similar job about 4 weeks agao - flanges had rotten and on inspection found a small crack on the manifold.

I removed Drivers side wheel (UK Car) , wheel arch liner and associated gubbins.
Dropped the right fuel tank and then unbolted the manifold.

sorry I didnt take any pictures.

As an off shoot im taking the enigine out of mine in the next couple of weeks - promise ill take pictures
