Hi all - have purchased a pair of genuine new carbon kick (cil) plates from main dealer at a good discounted price. My car has just about every carbon option and I always felt the standard metal kick plates let the interior down..

Please can anyone advise best course of action to change. Notice the existing ones are seriously stuck down and obviously I want to remove as carefully as possible. Was thinking maybe a touch of heat may be required to loosen whatever adhesive may be lurking underneath??? Also don't fancy pulling too hard as don't want to risk damaging surrounding paintwork..

    Many thanks

I believe there was a thread some time back about this. The favored way - if my memory is correct - is basically dental tape/floss. Get it under the kick plate and work it back. If you pull up you will rip the tape. So, push down and back to get under adhesive. No harm comes to the plate as material is non abrasive.
    I haven't done this myself.
Just repeating what I was told works.
As mine is first response, I am SURE others will give newer/better (?) ways.
I assume residual adhesive readily removed with the many products out there that do this.
    Best

I have done it myself . Dental floss is not strong enough . Use thin fishing line first , which will break at some point . Repeat the process and then move onto to thicker and thicker line , if not eventually Guitar nylon G string . Be patient and repeat the process . It takes about an hour time to move one plate . You will make it , just a matter of time .

Faster, but with bending the metal plates, lift a corner and remove the plate carefully.

Heat from a hair dryer will also help immensely in softening the factory two sided tape.
