Hi guys, I may have seen this thread before but couldnt seem to find in when I search the forum. So need to ask you guys again, The car ran well till last night (usual blast through tunnel before I got home etc). This morning when I started the car, the check engine 1-4 light came on this morning and one side of the engine is not firing. What is the most likely cause of this, please? I will need to send the car to the workshop (here in Singapore) anyway but just want to double-check with gurus here first so that they wont make too big a hole in my wallet. by the way, it has been rainning quite a bit here so is it possible that the sensors are wet ? would WD40 do the magic? Thanks guys Pengster
What codes do you have, and how did you come to the conclusion that the whole right bank is not firing?
Hi, I dont know how to check/ see the code. The engine felt like it ran only half as there was no power ( it was just enough to roll out of garage and then I reversed back in). it could rev up slowly. thanks P.
Yes it's highly possible that water is the culprit here. Pull your codes and let us know what you find. For directions go here: http://www.club348.com/technical/Tech/348.html
In your passenger footwell fusebox you will find two fuel pump relays. One will be for your 5-8 engine side, and the other will be for your 1-4 engine side. Swap those 2 relays with each other and then see if your problem switches sides when you start your car.
I had this happen once and it was my cat ECU. If I messed with the wiring harness up by my shock tower, then that side would fire, but first bump and it would shut down. You can swap ECUs to the other side and see if the problem moves with it. I replaced the cat ECU and it has been fine ever since.
Pengster: I felt and lived your pain last week; a link to one of my threads is below. With the kind help of many board members, I was able get it sorted. The culprit was the fuel relay, found in the fusebox under the passenger side footwell. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173965 Depending on what codes you get, I might be able to offer some guidance. I'm nowhere near as "good" as many people on the board, but I did learn an awful lot about diagnosing the same problem. Roverelf
thanks all, I finally went with easy way out by getting the workshop to pick my car up last night on their tow truck and they will give me a buzz sometime later today to tell me whats the real cause of it. I will report on the damage (hopefully its small). thanks for help P.
The culprit was the fusebox connection at passenger footwall hecne the relay to fuel pumps didnt work properly. Its all fixed now. Roverrelf and No doubt were spot on. Thanks again. P.
