HELP: Rusty part inside lower black metal grating on right side of Scud rear bumper

    When I look inside the lower black metal grating on the right side of my 2008 Scud's rear bumper, I see a large metal sheet labeled “PF GF70” that appears deformed and has large chunks of flaking rust on it. Below are pictures depicting what I saw. Sorry that these pictures were taken through the black metal grating.

    Could someone please let me know:
    (i) Why it’s rusting?
    (ii) Why the metal sheet part looks deformed?
    (iii) If this metal sheet part needs changing or repair?
    (iv) Should I be worried of something like this given the very low mileage of this vehicle

    Note: I just bought my 2008 Nero 430 Scuderia ~3 weeks ago (on Oct 31, 2015) with 1,180 miles on the odo from Ferrari of San Francisco. Clean carfax. I have 1-year Ferrari New Power warranty on this vehicle.

    That is the heat shield to protect the F1 actuator from the catalytic converter. It is "deformed" in order to fit around the shape of the actuator.

    The "rust" is where the silver paint has flaked off, leaving the Bakelite-like material, that the heat shield is made of, showing.

    Your heat shield looks in very good condition as they do degrade with use. If you wanted to spruce it up you could remove it and spray it with a high temp silver paint.

    Thx for the quick and informative response! Much appreciated! I won't take any action at this time....maybe down the road if/when the heat shield degradation gets worse. Will focus on enjoying the car for now....looking forward to the upcoming long Thanksgiving holidays this week in the U.S. as I will get to drive my Scud again...better than therapy!
