    Steve,

Or you could always buy/lease the CS, hold onto the 512M for two months. During that time, I would drive both of them back to back over the same road/course, then decide which one to sell. You might be surprised.

I have done these kinds of flip-flops a few times, and I usually never look back. The problem of course, is that you limit yourself to a certain number of special cars, so that getting the next one usually involves getting rid of the one you have.
I understand the itch for something different. You will never satisfy the need for a small tossable sportscar in a big, wide torque monster like the 512M. And, if you had that high-rev'ing boy racer, you are eventually going to miss the bottomless power of the 12. (And, though I was never a big fan of the 'new' Testarossa, the M is special. I ran with one a couple weeks ago at a leisurely pace on 287 between NJ and NY and it was a thing of beauty to behold in motion).
The only answer is to figure out how to fund the next one without getting rid of the current one. If, as TVU suggested, you still have the urge to dump one of the cars thereafter, you will do it on the merits. Good luck.

well i deffo cant afford both my first ferrari was a testarossa then i needed some money so sold it and bought a 308 till i could afford a a newer car bought a 348 gtb but missed the testarossa torque so bought another testarossa and was happy had this for a year for a year thought about going modern light weight and power steering so bought a 355 and hated it no torque or bottom end power [but if you have never drove a 12 cylinder ferrari you will not understand that comment] so after 4 weeks sold the 355 then searched and found the F512M had it 2 years now but really fancy a 360 stradle as i like ltd edition cars as they seem to be sought after like the f512m had it 2 years and can get the purschase price back that i paid for it i dont want to sell it then regret doing it like i did with the 355 the only car that i would sell the F512M is a F50 but cant or never will afford one as living in the uk LHD is not good is there anybody on here got or had a F512M/512TR and a stradle

Steve ................. I think you just answered your own question above. If you make the "switch" , as amazing as the Stradale is, you will likely find yourself in the same situation as you did previously with the 308 / 348 / 355. Find a way to swing both ....... or stay put with the 512 !!! I am in the EXACT same situation right now, so maybe in a way I am trying to convice BOTH you and me!!!! I have a 512TR that I bought as a "keeper" , and I definately want a nice red stradale (with the stripe). Head says swap the 512 for it ...... heart says add the Stradale to the stable!

Problem with the strad is that they are to common, same really for your 512,after all they did make 41 UK cars. What you need is a 348 GTS,1 of only 15 UK cars made, something rare ;)

The 360 engine, even with CS tuning, isn't that much stronger than a 355; so if you hated a 355, you might only despise the CS. Sounds like you should stay with the 512m.

I would keep the F512. Why get rid of a 12 to get an 8...that is moving down the food chain IMHO.

Find a friend who has a CS and trade cars for a few weekends or so. That way you get to sample the CS magic and dont have to financially commit to it and lose the 512M

    Good suggestion.
I personally wouldn't wanna trade F512M with a CS, the M is a classic, and only 501 made.

The funny thing about cars is that you can buy and sell them at will. - :)

Unless there is something truly, truly special about the 512M, or you've truly, truly sunk a lot of money into it, why don't give it a whirl and make the trade. If you don't like the CS, you can get out in six months and be all the more wiser. You did the same with your 355B in four weeks!

You may not be able to trade cars with a fellow member for a few weeks, but how about over a weekend. If even that is not a possibility, perhaps he can let you drive it for a few hours. You'll know within minutes of getting behind the wheel whether the CS is the right trade to make.

Keep the 512M or trade for a TR - in business, we call this a "high class" problem. - :)

Good luck either way. Let us know how it turns out.

    Best.

i will go contrary to the board here... i love the 512tr but the 512m is fugly to me...i dont like the front lights, the rear lights and the wheels...i know is has a few more hp than the 512tr but its not a big perf. gain...the big advantage of the m is its collectablity...very few copies made..it will hold its value better than most ferraris...the cs big disadvantage to me is the f1 tranny...give me manual tranny!!! so i would sell the 512m, and get a 360 1999 coupe and pocket the difference and invest the money to make up for any 360 depreciation or sell them and buy a 512tr and invest the money...or just keep the m....if you like the styling..its a rare and collectible classic...

I think you really need to think about why you are considering replacing the 512M and to prioritize the relative importance of the pros and cons of this decision. Is it just because you want a new toy? (if so, stay away from the bikini thread :) ) Are you tired of the 512M? Do you desire the CS because it is new or because it offers you something not found on your 512M, such as its modern design, light weight and sequential transmission? How much have you driven the CS? Do both cars offer you the same torque experience you enjoy? Do you like the styling of one over the other? How often do you drive the car and do you track it? Do you have an emotional commitment to your particular 512M or is it unique in any way that if you decide that you made the wrong decision you will feel you will not be able to replace it? Have you thought of getting over your bug to buy a new toy by keeping your 512M and buying an inexpensive track car or shifter go cart.

Don't your dare do such a thing!!;) You do realize that you have one of the most rare Ferrari's to be built of the modern modles correct? Why on earth would go to a car they basicly built 17 thousand of? If it was a run of the mill TR or 512TR then I could maybe see it, as those are fairly easy to come by if you want to switch back. But the "M" is in collectors territory, most guys with them will not let them go, because they know the value of the car. The CS will be just another 360 very shortly. It won't ever hold its value like the 512M will.

I truly think you will miss that roaring 12 and all the torque she delivers. Yup they are a bit of a pig around town, and them there manuel shifters need a bit of grunt and talent to get right, but damn..when it all comes together in one smooth song...its like sex on wheels brother, nothing can come close.

The F512M is big and fat just like its owner so he should deffo stick with it, he would look daft in a stripped out light weight CS:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I agree with this statement. You only live once. Don't keep the 512M if you are getting tired of it and want to try something else. You only have money to lose and a lot of enjoyment to gain.

Realize, of course, that the CS drives more like the 355 than the 512. The 512 has lots of torque .. with the CS you need to keep the revs high all the time to feel the power. Not that it is a bad thing by any means, it is just different and if that is what you did not like about the 355, you need to consider it more.

Whenever these posts come up where people want to trade up to a late model Ferrari, it seems 90% of the forum members try to talk them out of it. I agree the 512M is a great car .. but you have experienced it already ...

Personally, I would keep the 512M. It is a classic. I just purchased a 1993 512TR and love it. I also have a 911 Turbo which is probably faster than the 512TR and definitely faster than a 360CS, but to me the 512TR and 512M are true classic Ferraris. Ferrari has stamped out many copies of the 360 and 360 CS, but only made what...501 512Ms? Only 75 512Ms came to the US so I know they are rare here. It depends on what you are looking for.

Keep the 512M, and just lease a Stradale for a while. If you decide you want it, buy it out.

I'd sell the 512 in a heartbeat for a CS. The 512 is from a bygone era and gets no respect except from those who still think Chuck Norris and Don Johnson is cool.

Times have changed, get the latest and greatest.
