Hi all. Currently looking at a 2000 Russo 360 modena F1, 19k (kilometers) in canada , original owner, not heavily optioned, no electric seats. Body coloured grill at the rear. All maintence reported up to date at know indie garage. very minor stone chip and scratch repaired in the paintwork. Interior is in near perfect shape, no sticky buttons etc. What value would you put on a car like this or better yet what would you advise would be a fair price for this car assuming all checks out on a Ferrari PPI?

Pretty tough to say for me without seeing the car. Plus, not sure about the Canadian market. But I will say I think the early F1 TCU's were not as much fun to drive as the later version. But that TCU can be updated and there are plenty of threads here on that.

At almost 12K miles, that's not a lot of mileage. But with that said...
When was the last time the timing belts were done? Timing belt replacement should be done in most folks opinion at about every three years-- and IIRC that is what Ferrari recommends (Ferrari may even suggest every 2 years, not sure on that) Mileage has nothing to do with their suggested replacement. Over time they can deteriorate. And no Ferrari owner wants to see the damage a timing belt failure can cause.

If in the hands of a "inexperienced" F1 driver/owner, what is the situation with the clutch? Again, 12K miles is not a lot of miles on a clutch in a 360 BUT... Those two things alone could count for $8000-- unless you can do the work yourself.

Seems like a nice car. I would visit the "shopping for a used Ferrari" thread here on the 360 forum. Lots of valuable info there prior to purchasing a 360.

Definitely have a PPI but don't take that as a complete bill of health. Without seeing the car, I'd say $68K would be a good deal. Anything less would be a great buy if you have a near perfect car on your hands. You will see a lot of 360s on Car Gurus, Auto Trader, etc. that have been sitting seasoning on the market for some time. I suggest that those prices are a bit optimistic at best. I set in my mind what I would pay for my 360 and I did let it sit for awhile at a dealer. You are looking at a red 360. Not a hard 360 to find. My advice is stick to the price you feel comfortable with and be willing to let it go. But again that may be easy for me to say since I have no idea what the Canadian market is like for Ferrari 360s. How rare a find are they in Canada? How badly do you want this 360?

All the best to ya! Good luck.

Hi KC, Thank you for the detailed well thought out response to my question.
I have heard about the TCU improvement available and it is something I will look into down the line most likely.
I am getting the paperwork for all the service and maintanence work later today along with the Vin so I can research when the belts were last done and if it has ever had a new clutch. One of my primary reasons to have a PPI is to assess the clutch wear.
I saw the car this weekend and it appears immaculately maintained. the interior looks untouched almost.
the 68K you mentioned in your post I assume is in USD?. They do seem to be rarer here then in the US but there are still plenty available it seems across the country. This one just seems to be the right money and the right car (pending what the PPI uncovers).

    Thanks again!

Yes. $68K USD. And I know how it is... I found my 360 --on the other coast of the US! Soon as I saw it I knew it was what I had been looking for. Had it shipped from California to Florida!!

Also may be helpful to assess the amount of miles yearly. Has the car sat for a long time prior to you purchasing it? A couple of drives a week of 20 or 30 miles can keep all things in order. These cars, like many, do not like sitting for long periods of time. For me I find that if I give into a battery tender, then I simply need to drive my '03 360 more often (now at about 26K miles).

That was my concern with the lower mileage 360s out there when I bought my car. Too many that had sat on the market for literally a year or more at a dealer. Makes me cautious of the car. They can develop small electrical problems and gremlins that drive you nuts. Just a thought. When I bought my car I tracked the mileage per year with the extensive receipts I had been given pre-purchase.

And for the record, a little over 2 years of enjoyment of my 360 F1 with no issues;) They are great cars and even a greater value IMO. Hope the PPI works out for ya.

Sounds like a great car. The low mileage can be a double edged sword. Good for the vehicle condition but having decent mileage means consistent lubrication for the engine, hoses, seals etc.

Agree with some of the points already mentioned. My biggest concerns would be:

    1. wear on clutch
    2. when was the last major service
    3.maintenance records
    4. age of tires and condition

I would expect to pay no less than $70-75k USD for this car in all the points aforementioned are agreeable.

Thank you gents for your input. I have the carproof and everything appears to check out with that. Just awaiting the maintenance records tomorrow to confirm the last major. Then next step I think will be have a PPI done at my local Ferrari dealership to ascertain if the recalls have been dealt with and what the clutch wear is at.

Based on the prices you have both stated I feel I am getting a good deal should it all checks out.
    Thanks again!

Hey Mark I just picked up an 03 F1 Spider with 19,000 miles for 72 thousand USD. The previous owner replaced the exhaust, headers, cats, tires, major service all within the last 2 years. Also put about 6 thousand miles on it as well. Hope this helps.
