Hi yall – I need some help determining the best way to tackle two issues with my 360 (sorry for the long explanation but I want to be thorough). I bought it last spring and despite doing a PPI on it and reviewing in person, I missed the fact that the previous owner cut the check engine light, concealing that the car had two main issues that had not been addressed. Now I am trying to figure out the right way to handle it.

The car is a euro spec 2001 360 manual spider. I have the following equipment on my car:

    -USA ECUs

    -euro headers (no air rails)

-USA catalytic converters (with front and rear lambda sensors)

    -Tubi non-valved exhaust

I have gotten a series of DTCs, for two core reasons: the car does not have secondary air, and it has euro headers installed (without air rails). Those codes are: DTC P1443 “Secondary air injection incorrect flow”, P0432 “Convert efficiency bank 2”, and P0453 “Evap system pressure sensor/switch “A” circuit high”, and P0422 “Catalyst 2 efficiency below threshold bank 1”. The CEL is always illuminated.

As I mentioned above, this tells me that there are two main problems:

    1) the car does not have a secondary air system, so the USA ecu is showing an error when the pump doesn’t run (monitor will also never show ready).

    2) the lack of precats in the euro exhaust manifolds is causing the o2 sensors to pick up an error. This is shown through a variety of the catalyst-oriented codes as described above.

It seems I have two possible ways to try to solve this problem:

1- first install mini cat o2 extenders on the rear o2 sensors to see if the catalyst codes go away. If this works (check by completing a drive cycle and rescanning the car with OBDII equipment), then install the set of euro headers with air rails (which I already own) and install my secondary air pump system.

2- Get a tune done on the car to not illuminate the CEL when the catalyst efficiency codes or secondary air errors are triggered. Leave all the equipment which is physically in the car alone.

I am not doing this to pass emissions tests (my car is exempt in my state), more to prevent the constant illumination of the CEL which can disguise another problem if it arises. Please let me know if there are better plans of attack or other recommendations on this.
