Why on Earth did they ship it from Pensacola to Pearl BEFORE restoration?

There had to be 10,000 times more resources in Florida, Georgia, Alabama to get the job done and at cheaper prices.

    Stupid.

God knows Florida is loaded with retirees. I bet a bunch of them are A&Ps. FBOs or aviation related support businesses will be far more plentiful. You know, businesses who might want to help or donate time money or services.

I don't know who runs that museum but they are either government or retired government because few others are this dumb.

There are a lot of very good and well known reasons nothing gets done in Hawaii besides surfing and eating coconuts.

The BOD are mostly retired military officers. My guy was a Navy Captain. I think actually they do a very good job. The restoration shop is pretty extensive. Retired Pearl Harbor machinists and the like. These are all volunteers, but it still costs money for materials and supplies. Money is getting scarce these days.

I'm thinking if the plane was restored in Pensacola, they probably wouldn't have let it go.

We've got the "Swamp Thing" B-17 that's pretty rough. A Dauntless that was fished out of Lake Michigan. That plane was in pretty good shape. My main complaint is that the Navy put housing next to the Ford Island runway so it can't be used. Some of the aircraft, like an original "Flying Tiger" are air worthy. It would be nice to see them flying again.
