After a lot of thinking ( and reading on this web site ) i have decided to get a 355 ...... Although PAP 's 348 pictures certainly made me think about a 348 ......

My dilema now is ... should it be a 355 B , GTS or Spider ? Not sure about the F1 gearbox . I am thinking 6 speed manual .

    Can anyone offer advice ?

My quest was for a nice 1995 355 GTB 6-speed. The year is the last with OBD 1, it has 2 intakes and more Hp, with potential for more. The B is the stiffest for handling and also not that common. The 6-speed is a must for real men. Given that it is a 355, your manhood is already questionable by the brotherhood!

Seriously, the F1 has way more parts to fail so don't bother.

Thanks . I agree it has to be a manual . As for my manhood ... I already have a 328 . Does that save me ?

    Thanks PAP .... geeeee ss it's a nice 348 ! Congrats man !! BUT I'm sticking to a 335 ... you nearly got me !!

So the elimination process has began .... I'm down to a Red/ Tan 355 , 6 speed manual .... Only question now GTS or B ...... Infact does it matter ? Would either be ok depending whats on market .

    Almost. ;);)
Red/tan 6 speed is a good choice. GTB/GTS is your call. Do you want to be able to take the top off on sunny days ect.......and enjoy a litte open air? If you do, then take a GTS. If not, take a GTB, or whichever comes 1st if it does not really bother you. :):)

Being a newbie to Ferrari my wife and I bought a '98 355 GTS 6-speed. We have loved every moment of it. To plug a few benefits of the GTS-

Best of both worlds- can take the top off or have it on for track days
It is fine around the track if you plan to do some tracking
Lowest production number in the 355 sub types
Last of the Targa top Ferrari's

The '95s have more power due to the 2.7 motronic. From what I understand the power change to the 5.2 motronic was not discernable. You would see power improvement with aftermaket exhaust manifolds and cats.

    '95 GTB
    or
    '99 6-speed GTS.

My red/black '99 6-speed GTS just went to Sport Auto on a trade. Not on their web site yet:

Also, be aware that the GTS models are pretty tough to come by.

GTS is a bit "flexible" (no roof) and they can creak a bit - drips anyone?

Shame you dont want an immaculate 98, 23000m, LHD, GTB with Nero hide ;)

Welcome to the proper f-car 328stig, the mighty F355:)!!! My opinion is if you are going topless, go all the way. There are not that many F355gts out there. So that will limit your choices. "B's" are very nice, if you will be tracking the car at all the B is the way to go. Otherwise a 6-speed "F355 spider" is the best of the best IMO ;).

Your manhood will in no way be jeopardized in an F355. That is just the "opinion" of some of the misguided members on the 348/355 section :p. They talk about hair-gel as if it were a "bad" thing ;). You will be in good company when join the superior ranks of the "355 owners" :D :D.

If I were to get a 355 it would only be a '95 GTB. They make the most power, and are OBD1. Plus most of the '95s should have already had the valve guide problem taken care of by now.

No doubt the GTS has the lowest production number (approx. 2000+ of the 11K 355s built) and are hard to find. It took us about 5 weeks to find our car (with our color choice). At that time I believe I found about 6 GTSs available for sale accross the country.

Right now just a quick view show how many 355s are available (could be duplicate listings between sources):

    FerrariUSA.com
    GTB- 5
    GTS- 5
    Spider- 15

    Ferrari Market Letter (33 cars)-
    GTB- 6
    GTS- 4
    Spider- 23

    Cars.com (78 cars)-
    GTB- 9
    GTS- 3
    Spider- 66

Thus if you want a Spider, there are plenty to choose from. The GTBs and GTSs you will need to do work a little to find what you want.

Touch of polymer (rubber safe) lube to the latch feet every few months, not a creak anywhere.

Agreed. I added some silicon lubricant to the seals and mounts and it did wonders.
