I've a problem with Win XP home on my wife's computer; she ran scandisk due to slow operating and now cannot connect to the internet or email. The computer is connected to the home wireless network and can contact the internet (can ping outside locations successfully) but cannot practically connect to any internet apps (browser or email).

Suspect it is a TCP/IP issue but I have tried the reset command with no luck. Any suggestions other than reinstalling WinXP? Also if I do reinstall (I have the OS disk) will I need to reinstall all other apps?

    Thanks!

If you reinstall, yes, you will have to reinstall the apps.

    Try an anti-virus scan?

    Fixed!

How - not entirely sure. Reran the "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" command and restarted the computer (for the 4th time) and it now works!

It's windows, reboots fix everything :D

    haha.

My old helpdesk job people would get annoyed if I just gave them netsh cause it was such a simple fix compared to how long they waited in Queue but that usually fixed the browsing issue on XP 99% of the time haha.
