Probably has to do with the Top sensors/actuators. When you go to put the top down - the whole mechanism - windows, seats, etc work to properly position everything to ensure clearance when the top goes down.

I would expect you have what many of us have experienced with the joy of a badly designed 355 convertible... Many have the same problems with the seats not moving instead of the windows.

The best advice I can give - first do a few searches for 355 top problems or similar - I think I and a few others have talked about this over the past few years.

In a few of these threads - you will find us talking about the top bypass switch which is in the little consel on the back shelf. You probably have a bad sensor for the windows which will probably cause both windows not to go down when the top is down.

How I would handle it - if you do not want to take it in just yet for service. Put your windows down with the top up - and leave them down - until you put your top back up.

Also - I disconnected the window and seat sensors - due to this problem - which occurs a ton of times. And I always am careful to put the windows down and seats up when putting the top up or down - so I am not as concerned in not doing it right.
