    Can i just use the current user as the main user...? i don't know why there was two profiles to begin with...

    You can use as few or as many user profiles as you'd like. Just copy all the data from the profile you broke looking at porn to the profile you would like to use.

    How about using Linux? ;) That way Windows can't screw you over!

    You might be able to tell I am a little bitter about Windows right now... I had some problems in the recent past with it.

    i think, for the most part, it's okay... i'll probably have to tweak some things as time progresses, but i just took everything in the Desktop folder in the specific user's folder, in all users, in Documents & Settings and pasted it onto the desktop; i changed the desktop picture back to what it was... Now it looks normal... There's only one way to find out if everything WORKS normally, but Norton is running and everything else relevant seems to be working just fine...

    Famous last words, right...? :)

    Ok, scratch that... All is NOT well... All NetScape emails are gone; where do i go to get these back...?!? This is really a nightmare...

    nothing is "gone" per se.

    you should really try a few other things since you know how to add other users to the system. sorry, I'm a bit brain dead right now. maybe post food I can be of some help.

    well okay might i suggest before you DO seriously fook things up that you copy the ENTIRE "documents and settings" directory to another drive/CD. that way at least if you mess things up at least whatever data's there is somewhere else too.

    have you tried threatening the computer? the best way to get technology to werk as desired is by making a start to replace/destroy it.

    The Netscape mail SHOULD be in Documents and Settings/XXXuseraccountyouscreweduplookingatporn/applicationdata/netscape...

    Poke around and you will see a folder marked MAIL. You can use your Netscape mail client to import the mail from this directory.

    It isn't so bad how i left it, but when i try to open Netscape, it asks me if i want to set up a new account... i started to set up the existing account hoping all the mail would come flooding back in (which is probably not true of already-read mail), but i don't anything about outgoing SMTP POP server thingies...

    The mail can still be accessed via the web (mail.whatever.com), but it's through Netscape that the user is used to accessing their mail and i don't want that to change... i'd like to get everything back to as close to normal as possible...

    Not a big deal, the POP3 in the incoming mail and the setting will reflect whichever mail serivce you have the account with, check with them. The SMTP is for outbound mail and that usually reflects your ISP's settings, which you can check with them. There may be a user name and password involved with these so make sure you ask about that.
