    Fchat friends,

I've only attended Indy F1 races and would like to go to the German Grand Prix next July at the Nurburgring. I want to go ahead and get tickets but I'm nervous about how/where to buy the tix. Who is the official distributor for tickets? The Nurburgring itself? How safe are the ticket companies such as f1gpt.com or Bookf1.com or grandprix-tickets.com? Some say tickets won't ship until 1 to 2 weeks before the race. That sounds crazy. I don't want to send of $2,000 now and hope my 4 tickets show up in time for my trip to Germany next July. I want to order my tickets now and get them in my hand before I spend a fortune making other arrangements. It looks easy enough to order and it appears great seats are available now, such as T4 High. I just don't know if I should go ahead and order now or just wait until next year.

Please give me any and all info that can help a rookie international F1 traveler.

    Thanks,

    Geno

Just as with gigs the tickets are often only sent out a couple of months before the event

You are probably better off not making serious arrangements til the draft calendar is confirmed in December as there are no refunds as a result of date changes altho ticket validity will not be affected

You can buy your tickets direct from the circuit or from Bernie's site (formula1.com) which obviously are the safest options

Wow. Thanks, Jimmie. I thought yesterdays release was the confirmed schedule. I will definitely wait until December.

This looks official to me. Are you sure it's not official until December?

OK I accept the FIA are calling it a confirmed schedule but ask anyone about Monaco 2010 when the date changed between September & December....

Yeah, ouch. That would be a major problem. I think I'll sit tight.

    Thanks,

Yeah, that's probably the smartest thing at this point. All F1 calendars are considered provisional at this point in the year.

I bought mine from the race track on-line.

When you do decide to buy, check back here for recommendations for hotels, etc., and how to set-up your overall stay.

You can go "Blow it out my Butt" ritzy or do it for a "song and a dance" and get a REAL taste of Germany just 15 minutes from the track.

Middlemen vendors that I have bought from have always delievered tickets to me in the last two weeks. If I travel before the race, which I always do, I have had to receive them at a hotel. One time the hotel operators kept my ticket and told me it was not delivered. I later received proof postive that it had been delivered. All I could do was leave a bad on-line review of the hotel, unless I wanted to try to pursue legal measures from half way around the world, which I chose not to do. Therefore, I now use official ticket agencies only. The organizing committee straightens out any problems on site. This paid off once when an agent tried to scam me and I went to the track and talked to the officials. They called the guy on the spot and I ended up with a better ticket.
