I need any pics of the engine and gearbox of the 312 T5. I'm building Protar's model and the instructions are very vague... Do you have any you can share? Specially of the gearbox.....

That's not the 312 T5 V12 engine but the 126 C2 V6 turbo engine so that won't be any good I'm afraid. You could have a look at the Exoto site for their 312 T4. I'm sure it will be very similar to the T5.

No problem. Which scale and make is that 126 C2 anyway? It looks stunning but expensive.

thank you guys, those pics are great.... One question I have is: On the model of the 312 T4 the gearbox is black and on the original is magnesium.... did they use it differently on the two?

That I don't know - I suspect it looks black on the model because the modeller has used dark metallic grey to simulate new magnesium.

I'll look for another pic in my archive this weekend.

Here is a site with detail pictures of a 312T3:

    Hi Peter,

I can answer your ques. on the 126C2.

It's 1/8 scale, over 2100 parts consisting of carbon fibre, metal, rubber, and resin.

    It's expensive allright at $4000US for the kit, pre-builts @ $10,000US

Here's a link for more info:

I couldn't find an original 1979-80 picture, but found a photo I took of the gearbox of Jody Schekter's own 312T4 at Goodwood a few years ago.

The car looks over-restored, but the gearbox is definitely a sort of gold colour.

I've seen that.... even the engine had a magnesuim colour on it.... I wonder if it was done like that, another thing is the suspension arms, in some pics the look like grey dirty steel and on others they are black painted....
