    Hi guys,

I'm finally getting around to installing the keyless entry on the 328 today, and have decided while I'm in the door panels to clean up some of the rocker switches I'm having issues with.

Specifically, the light bulb in the rocker switch for the driver's window is out; also, "up" position on the window switch for the passenger's window doesn't engage all the time.

Some simple maintenance is in order! I've searched the archives, but only found passing references to removing and cleaning these switches, and nothing about replacing the light bulbs.

Could folks who have "been there, done that" chime in and offer some pointers on dealing with these rocker switches? Also for the four center console switches (though they are of a slightly different design than the window ones).

    Thanks all!

Mike, the switch just pops out...you can reach underneath and give it a push with your finger...Once out, unplug it. You can disassemble the switch for cleaning...but you will see that the bulb is soldered in. Not really designed to be user replaceable. You might be able to figure out the bulb type and solder in a new one, or perhaps it has a broken lead?

    Good luck.

    Hey Dave!

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Indeed, they did just pop out without any difficulty.

I did have some difficulty however with OPENING the switches themselves. In the end, gentle use of a total of three jeweler's scredrivers at once got them to open up without issue.

Dave, you're exactly right about the soldered light bulb. I'm glad that the bulb itself didn't blow! Would be tricky to find a replacement (although doable, I think).

What had happened was, the solder joint on the light bulb lead had disconnected and was just floating free! Heh, that'll do it every time! Probably some careless cold solder joint is my guess.

Anyways, a quick application of the solder gun using a little new solder, and all was well. Light fixed!

Thanks again for the response... Hope someone else can benefit from this. Gotta keep up with the little stuff, boys!

Now I know how and what to look for in one of the rear window switches of Rachel, my 92 Mondial t. Thanks.
    Cheers, Hank
