help with 612 spare tire lid cover in trunk

I am making a new spare tire lid cover out 1/4 inch plywood as the original one is very flimsy.
My original is missing the small strap that is shown in the manuals. I would like to know if
the strap is made out of leather or vinyl and if someone has a picture of one it would be great to post.

I believe the cover has been lined with black felt top and bottom. The bottom has a piece of metal
underneath to try and give the corrugated plastic lid some support. I am copying the original and making it
out of plywood so I can keep the original intact.
