I am looking at a red/black 1994 348 Spider at around 33,000 miles, belts and clutch done 3 yrs ago at 26,000 miles, cheap exhaust, crack in one fog light, interior and engine need detail and the real kicker is that it went from green to red 3yrs ago to help sale at that time. If the PPI comes back without any major issues, what would be a fair price?

    Color change not good
    Needs a major now
needs interior work- may have a sticky console
If it passes PPI- make sure a compression test is done
Tool Kit will run you about $400
    My guess $30-35K

The color change can work in your favor price wise. I would of course run through a PPI and see what comes up. The fog lamp is a very, very pricey issue if you chose to replace. Without seeing the car its tough to truly value the car but I would say lower 30K but not more then 32-33K max in my mind.

Need the compression test for a more accurate value estimate. Do you have a Carfax or Autocheck to confirm there were no accidents?

I have to agree. The color change will always be an issue that will keep the value down when it comes time to resell.

40 for a good Spider, minus 9 for a major, minus 5 for the paint... about right.

The low ballers are out for the Holidays!

There is no reason to consider a car like this, other than spending less. There is no such thing as a 'cheap Ferrari'. Looking at the lowest price cars, will give you a car that needs work, service, missing tools, records, books, luggage, and end up costing more in the long run.

Buy the best car, and that usually means spending more money. After, you ante up and spend the money, you will forget about it when you are actually out enjoying the car, not fixing everything and moaning that the car doesn't work.

Should have left it green, quite a rare colour in 348 Spiders.

    Isobel is right....

The only 348 you should buy, should look BRAND NEW....they are "out there" and they don't cost any more than the 'market'......that IS the market!!!

There's thousands of unwanted cars dumped on the selling block today...

The color change was an act of desperation, and is always "points off" of a Ferrari....speaking for myself only, on a newer car.

Odd colors are cool.....have you looked into FerrariAds???

I'll check at Ferrari of Houston.....

Thanks for all the input, but I have made a deal on the car. I will not give the price, but it was something I could live with and the seller was not pleased with, but in the end it was fair. I hope it will be a while before we start seeing $25,000 348 Spiders out there. The car checked out good and the interior just needs a TLC but is in good shape with no sticky parts. I spoke to several people who knew the car and it had a clean history except for that paint change to help it sale. It was getting at a price point that the paint change was not a huge deal to me because I am buying as a drivers car and have no plans to show or think of as an investment, but just good times with the top down. The paint seems to be a good and no where on the car have I been able to tell it had a color change. It also has 360 wheels on it and includes the orignal wheels, which will go on my Mondial 3.2. Let me know if anyone has a spare set of tools or 348 exhaust they wish to move on.

Welcome to the brotherhood! No need to disclose price, we were just offering advice.

FYI - I turned down a $27k 348 earlier this year, so they are out there...

I am not sure I agree with this. Despite the colour change, if no accidents, and the compression test results prove the engine is still pristine, then it is still worth much more.

Why do people keep forgetting this...? This is what I based my purchase decision on last year and NOTHING is more true than when purchasing a Ferrari whether it be a Daytona, 355, or even F430.
