inlet and outlets are the same size, it all appears the same except for the position of the connector, but maybe that's adjustable. I can't say it works the same however, maybe it does. I'll bench test it and report back. (Photograph is before I transferred the grommets to the new one)

Okay, so I think the issue with the hot water permanently flowing through the heater matrix might be finally solved. Thank you everyone for tips and suggestions, it was a big help.
The culprit appears to been a faulty hot water valve, even though I bought the whole unit brand new last year for $355.00. When 12V is fed to it, the plunger seal thing only extends a few millimeters, when I apply the same current to a replacement valve I bought online, hey presto, it extends fully.
Last year when I replaced the full assembly, it was pretty dumb of me not to open it up. I would have seen how simple it is and that replacement innards can be bought for less than $20.
There is no longer the blast of hot air when I turn on the ventilation on, and the A/C no longer has to be at war with searing heat. Now I can focus on the issue of the A/C turning itself off after 20 minutes or so.

Thanks Urs, it was mainly you guys. Also, I was using your wiring diagrams to try and figure out a few electrical quirks, like when the hot water valve is unplugged, the car will not start (no spark). Anyway, 1/2 problems solved, currently working on the a/c shutting off.

Ben from what I can see there is no rational relationship between your no-spark situation and the heater valve being unplugged. The valve gets 12V when the ignition is on via fuse 18 and relay s. It's controlled with ground/no ground via the ECU.
Re your a/c shutting off: It seems your a/c is working as in cools IF it runs, but it stops for no apparent reason after a while?

Does the condenser fan keep running when the shut-off occurs?

If the AC is shutting off after 20 mins, it could be a relay getting hot and dropping out, compressor clutch coil getting hot, condenser fan bearings a bit worn or tight. See if you can measure the volts to each in turn to see if u r getting a volts drop

Ben do the following test: Start your engine and then pull the heater valve plug. If what you say so, the engine will die. Does it?
