i was driving my 348 on fourth of july and shifted from 4 to 5th and the pedal went right to the floor. i drove the car home as i stoped on the side of the road and got the car in first. i started it and managed to get it home i was only 10 blacks from my house. i had a new clutch put in a couple of years ago and never have had a problem. there is some fluid leaking out of the vent at bottom of the transmission . it seemd like a hydralic problem buy i am trying to figure out what the problem is before i take it to the cash grave yard. its always expensive to fix this car but i love it.. the car has 22k on it.

Sounds like blown T/O bearing seals mate. :):)
A T/O bearing is pictured with the seals showing.

The clutch fluid shares the same resivior as the brake fluid. It doesnt take much loss of brake/clutch fluid for the pedal to go to the floor mate. :):)

Sorry to hear about your troubles...PAP is probably right, should be easy enough to check the fluid level... if it's ok, maybe it's a linkage problem....you didn't say how much fluid was leaking from the weep hole... is it, or was it, a lot???

Reminds me of something my grandad used to say.... "All leaks stop eventually"

Please post a picture of the throw out bearing once it is removed. I am curious if it is just the seals that failed, or a cracked housing like what happens on the 355. If the 355 bearing from Hill Engineering fits, definitely get that. Stronger and less expensive than the failure prone Ferrari part.

Yep sounds like the seal in the T/O bearing...:( Mine 355 just did the same thing on a 1k+ mile trip. Left me stranded in Tahoe NV. I only had about 1500 mile on my new clutch when it went...:( Had to have it towed to Reno and fly home until they could fix it. Sorry to hear about yours. You would think that as much as these car are they could make some of the parts better. I've never had a problem with any of the clutchs in my other cars. Pisses me off everytime I hear about a clutch going on one of these with only 15k to 20k on the clock.

I could beat up my '68 Camaro do burn outs pop the clutch etc. and never had a problem, almost makes me want it back...:) I wouldn't dare do that in my 355...:( unless I wanted another "new" clutch.

I'm with the rest of the guys. Sounds like the throw out bearing. Run a search of the archives and I'm sure you'll find a "how-to" thread.
