I want to purchase a Granturismo Convertible for my wife. I am looking at 2012-2013 models and have seen a huge variation in pricing. Any general thoughts on costs, issues and recommendations? And yes, I did use the search option!

For me it would be important to get the GranCabrio "Sport" with the 460PS (454hp) engine, the ZF 6-speed automatic transmission and of course the perfect seats of the "Sport". The models from this vintage (2012 - current) I consider to be very reliable.

I drive a GranTurismo "Sport" (04/2014) in everyday life, now I have 100'000km behind me with this car, absolute no problems, a top product.

Yup, no current engine/gb combo comes close for reliability.

I had a Maserati Coupe so no experience with the GranTurismo, however, I would look into the variation recall. Not sure if that affected only the earlier models and they fixed it by 2012-2013. It's really pricey if you have to do it (6-8k).

Besides that, they seem like fairly solid cars. I always follow them on eBay and would have bought one after my Coupe had they come with a manual transmission.

Aesthetically - I would go with the 2013 model over the 2012 for the front bumper / facelift is updated and looks much better. You shouldn’t have any mechanical problems with either one as they are very reliable and good DDs. I can’t speak for the convertible top though, I have no experience with that aspect of the car.
I drive a 2012 coupe everyday with zero issues..

the OP asked for prices. My experiecen is that 13-14 go now for mid 80s and sport for 60-mid 70s. I did see what seems to be nice cars in mid-sixties. a 12 can be obtained for even less and owners still rate the 12 as relaible as well. The onbly ones they shy away from is the early 08-09 non S. These are in the mid 30s now.
NOTE: i did se 14 MC going for the lmid 90s but they tend to sit for a very long time. Looking for the "right" buyer
