430 Help with mysterious F1 issue.

    For the past few months, my car would periodically switch to neutral between the 2-3 shift but would only happen once per drive and not every time. (NO WARNING LIGHTS)

    A few weekends ago, we went on a pretty spirited cruise. On the way back after a good run, I lost 2nd or 3rd for a minute and almost felt like it was slipping. So I put it in 4th and kinda just cruised towards home. Once I got off the exit after babying the car for awhile, all things were back to normal and it was driving through the gears just fine. Again, no warning lights.

    Any ideas? I had the clutch life checked 3 years ago and it was at 90% left. Had F1 fluid changed 1.5 years ago.

    I haven't done any trouble shooting at all.

    Let us know pump cycle times and durations

    Key on engine off
    Engine on

    Shifting from n to 1 to n in both above

    What i am looking for is some timing parameters so i can help diag the issue

    Would like to know how long the F1 pump stays on and how long does it remain off ..duration and cycle times

    I would like you to take note if those two items for the following

    Door opening (new)

    Key on but with engine off -dash lights on

    Engine running in neutral

    Then shut car off but put key into on position again

    Then how many shifts do you get before you get pump to cycle ..

    Shift from 1 to n to 1 and let me know how many shifts before pump turns on ..also note the same as above duration

    Do the same shifting with engine running..

    Tell me all those timing and hopefully we can get to one or two possible items to look into

    I sent you my number .. sometimes it is easier to talk it out

    I recorded everything except with the engine running. The car is just so loud, it’s hard to hear the pump running. I’ll pull it outside in a bit and try those tests.

    Also; when the engine is running and in Neutral, I can’t shift past 1st gear.

    I’m going to need help with the engine running. Just too loud.

    here are the other results.

    door open, pump runs for 4.5 secs

    key on / engine off - pump runs for 8ish seconds

    engine off. Car in N. I get through through n-1-n before pump runs for 2.5 secs

    How long did the pump remain off before it went on again with key on engine off ..after the 2.5 runtime or 8 second run time .. also when you get to it ..need that with engine running in neutral

    Has your gear indicator flashed the gear it’s in before? As in if your in 4 the 4 will keep flashing.
