Can anyone point me to an already completed or do it yourself set up for stabilizing a steering wheel and pedals?
I'm using the Logitech Driving Force Pro and playing on a 61" dlp. I'm hoping for something that has it's own seat, I just can't get comfortable sitting on the couch. I would really like to be able to just build my own. Currently I'm playing Formula 1 CE on the PS3, but wouldn't mind expanding in the future to pc's. I just need something basic layout to help me get started.

Just get something like this: http://store.videogamecentral.com/gamefurniture003.html

My setup isn't like this, it is just a spare sparco roadster seat I have, and then a wooden frame, anchored by a 25# weight at the bottom. It holds very well, doesn't slide at all, and fits very snug (that's the bad part).

I'm looking for something more angled. I want to sit like I'm sitting in a F1 car, that's probably why I'll have to design and build one. I'm going to start with a seat and get the angle right. I believe that's going to be the most important part. Then I can build around that.

If you want formula car feeling, then create your seat how the professionals do it! Fill a big plastic bag with polyurethane foam, sit on it until it keeps its form, remove the bag and cut everything away that isn't part of the seat. For the real feeling, you might want to wrap it in duct tape!

How feasible is that, and how do you keep the position? Where do I find Polyurethane?

I'm in the beginning stages of design, nothing reasonable is out of question. :)

Last time I assisted creating such a seat (for a real car), we filled the bag, propped it against a wall so it wouldn't fall over and our driver sat on it. Depending on your bag and on the foam, the one to sit on the bag needs something to hold on in front of him to prevent the bag from having to take his entire weight. Maybe it sounds more complicated than it actually is, it's pretty straightforward.

You can get that kind of foam in every hardware store. It's used to insulate windows or door frames. It may very well be that "polyurethane foam" isn't the name under which it's sold in the US, maybe another FChatter can help :)

So did you just fill a trashbag with this stuff?

I've decided that I'm going to make something out of PVC.

I made my seat out of 2X4" and a seat off a racing supplies website. Doesn't look pretty but the position is pretty good. Unfortunately I'm not subscribed at the moment otherwise I'd post a pic, and the whole setup is disassembled in the closet at the moment anyways to save space.
